hey thnx :)

and yes stuff like that will be incorporated in the diorama , i have all of these number plate decals , because i cant make myself use them on my hotrods .. so i was thinking of sticking them on a thin piece of styrene so they are thicker and maybe drill holes in the corners where scews where

maybe even bend one a bit ...

i'm kinfd of deviding my work between the smaller and larger details so it doesnt get boring and gradually grows every update

yesterdat i was lying in bed and got the idea when i have all the roof beams done to make like a real roof but on a hinge so when you open the whole top the roof steel stays on the diorama but the roof opens ...

my base is as thick as the side edges you see on some pictures , a pit would be possible but then you would have to make like a large tray under the whole diorama to close it and the whole dio had space under the floor so you can make a pit there ..
if you really would want a person down there standing it would have to be pretty deep .. that is what kept me from making that ..
i do want to make something like what you said but i would do that on a dio twice as small as this i think

yesterday i was pretty worn out from the work week so i didnt do much

i did lower the small mercedes car , wheels will be painted and the body will also get a new color going to add a antenna and scratch a control an turn it into a rc car

washed the 300 sl gadge with black for some depth

417748_271427052990212_1438701675_n.jpg

and did that on the parts on the bench as well

on this pic you see the car head unit stereo hanging under the cabinet

irl it all looks more friendly to the eye these are close ups and shot when dark so everything looks more black and weathered as on the eye and further away

thnx guys , well so much to make and build so not finished for a while

even the rolling door is only the base , the door needs a ton of hinges , a frame with curve into the ceiling , the panels that are missing because its opened need to sit folded in the ceiling frame

on the garage windows i was planning like a tube system operated from below so they can "open" them (not 4 real)

well just went on and painted the added strips on the wall

559788_271599109639673_1604840781_n.jpg

and gave the wood the first wood-stain coat

150492_271599112973006_857712940_n.jpg

made the edge around the oild and grease thing dirty and then did the whole square but wiped it with a moist cloth so it looked like somebody mopped the earea a bit

on the zoomed in shots it often looks very extreme , here on the further away shots you see its not that extreme dirt and filth wise :)

Richard, you could teach several here as to how to make a garage look realistic . I've been a member here for years and I'm always seeing these "Super Sanitary garages ". I dunno about you , but the only time I ever saw a clean shop was when I visited Mr. A J Foyt's place years ago .

thnx actually i just recently started real weathering and sort of found my way into this .. what i found out on the garage is that it pays of to paint matt blkack shadowlines along all the beems , and all stuff in the garage , some dont show right away but thats the main thing fot me that i found really helped to give it a nicer feel ..

and i'm not a expert by far still learning so much new stuff :)

and yes i just love the older dirty garage's so much more then clean and sterile ones .. i have seen a number of places irl where they looked soemwhat similair to this.

now a dealers garage for maintenence wont look as dirty off-course :)

but i do want to build a clean one in the future , not real big like this but more one suited for taking pics of my models in

Health n safety would tell you off you dont have a hand rail going up the staircase! :D

yes i know and still planning to make that handrail ...... :) didnt come to start that yet

Richard you could try applying license plate decals to aluminum foil, then cutting them out and either bending or denting them, plus putting the screw holes in them, and then mounting them to either a wall or onto a model. Just a hint.

now thats really a great idea , thnx !!!!!!!!! you know what i have like this roll of aluminum tape its real thick and really aluminum , ususally i used that for fixing parts on for paint but that stuff is perfect if i bend that it just stays in that shape , it almost bends like brass tubes and stays .. oh yes you gave me a awsome idea !!!

Wow Richard, I am just speechless.

thnx !!!

still needed a door in the garage , wanted to also incorporate real see trhough windows and take advantage of natural lighting..
already the floor gets great light effects from the door i made ..
it was tricky to drill and use a powersaw but it went well

made it like fitting to the building , bigger industrial looking door

added strips because of the glass making the door sit further from the wall and light coming through , the light only needs to come in trough the windows so i did it this way

after the previous post i went to the table and made a new wall piece at the door and put the back back ...
could not remove the strut due to glue and paint , so new a wall cover did the trick

then removed the mesh on the glass , looked cool but the light didnt come true the windows as nce as without the mesh

finshed the walls imo it makes everything more tied together and as one ..
had to kep the 2 struts it was to mucht tearing of stuff to redo those 2 pieces of wall so thats a compromise..
i did redo them so they run in front of the plates

also redid the base of the rolling parts table it was of sclae and way to low (1st mistake in the dio)

yesterday i made a support above the door , there will also be added some standing briks there

also worked on the welder and made it on a roller with the gass cilinders beside i will convert this one to a tig welder
needs a handle to push and some chains to hold the gas cilinders

482475_272857146180536_1771379752_n.jpg

and i took randy d's idea of using lego's as a base for the mill , hope he (you) dont mind ? :)
his mill is just plain insane and so realistic i hope that mine will be half as good hahaha
