Atlantis Models has bought another lot of tooling/molds.....
Stef replied to Dave Van's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Not gonna lie, these classic Revell 62 Mopars are 99% new to me, and I am sooooo happy to discover them and get any/all that Atlantis will release. Looking at the chassis and engine bay, I'm getting a bit of a Johan vibe, and that sort of feel/nostalgia makes me very happy. Thank you Atlantis for bringing these hidden gems to light. -
Agreed, @StanGlover, in all the squillions of kits I've bought over the past century or two, only a handful ever had any problems. If anything, we're all much more trepidatious about cracking open vintage MPC kits, infamous for their tire melt!

Sorry about your loss, @StanGlover. I've not gotten the 71 Mustang yet, but on a somewhat related note, last year, I got my copy of the 76 Chevy Custom Van. It was missing one of the seats, and the chrome sprue was partially crushed, where one of the wheels was utterly pulverized. Hoping these quality control issues are rare one-offs, and not a growing trend of lowered standards!

Wow, looks like lots of cool Mopars there! Am I seeing what looks like a Johan 62 Plymouth Fury? Or Revellion with a filled-in trunk? Or could it be Revell's classic 62 Dart? Hopefully, this link will go directly to Casey's 2019 post for comparison: -
Wow, @Steamboat, this is insane awesome. Love your big boat gasser vibe, and you've just inspired me to rip into my 59 Galaxie Starliner and give it a similar treatment. Your "Cretin" moniker is a hilarious pièce de résistance that will be hard to match, let alone beat!

Why was the Supernatural 67 Impala 4 door kit discontued?
Stef replied to GMP440's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I remember reading that awhile back too, @stavanzer. I'm no expert; maybe we builders adding B-pillar detail and changing a few other things up a bit might be sufficient-enough to serve as a decent representation? -

Never got around to building either the Impala 2-door or supernatural 4-door; would love love love to build this kit up as a taxi, fire chief, or police car, poverty caps and all! -
Replica of my 1970 Superbird Tribute car
Stef replied to Superbird McMonte's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Agreed, @Superbird McMonte, truly one of the best films ever made. Definitely in my top 5, too. Sorry for the derail, but a most green one. Getting back on topic, your supergreen Superbird is the BIG BADA BOOM, and I am a meat popsicle. -

Agreed 128%. Hope all Bronco variants sell. One thing I'm curious about; most of the IRL Broncos I see are 4-doors. I'm wondering if the 2-door kit variants sell well-enough, Round 2 might come out with 4-door versions? If so, I'd imagine that would require a LOT of new tooling, mostly because of its longer wheelbase. So we'd better show our love and snatch up all the 2-doors we can get our hands on, if we ever want to see A BRONCO RAPTOR!

Streaker AWB F-85 Cutlass kit; will this be coming?
Stef replied to GMP440's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Thank you, everyone at Round 2, for making this happen! There are a whole lot of us that have been dying to make one of these AWB Olds kits! -

I'm young enough to have missed the whole parts pack/Ed Roth stuff. Despite reading/learning so much here from you cats, most of it still goes over my head. Better box art and side panel photography/marketing would educate and sell the contents of the kits better, manage expectations, and build trust, especially with normies like me. -
Looks like the custom wheels on the 57 Ford Del Rio Ranch Wagon box art are the same ones Revell used on their 56 and 57 Chevy kits.

Agree 128%; all of the box art produced by Atlantis for all car subjects has been lacking vision, beauty, excitement, brand focus, and have failed to manage expectations. So many people were really upset over the ex-Revell 57 Cadillac, and it didn't have to go down that way. Design-wise, changing the box art logo colour, size, and placement, using photos of a real car here, illustrations there, lots of white, no detail shots, questionable typography, and more, and it's not working. Awhile back, I created this mock box art for the Green Elephant. I would love love love to see Atlantis succeed, and if they can just pull it all together with their graphic design, I'm sure people would know what they're in for, and sales would soar. I should reach out to them again. -
Will we be seeing the AWB F-85 Olds Cutlass drag kit this year?
Stef replied to GMP440's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Agreed; the Streaker should be/could be an easy lay-up. Awhile back, I screencapped HPI Guy's parts reviews of both the convertible and 442 hardtop kits, and IIRC, 99% of the specialized parts needed for the Streaker are included in either the convertible, the 442 hardtop, and for some parts, either kit. Pop out the hanger AWB body, and grab a chassis from one of AMT's other AWB kits (Edsel, Mustang, Nova, Chevelle, Tempest, Falcon, Cyclone, etc.), and booyah. For everyone's convenience, attached is the comparo I'd made originally in the summer of 2023. The only thing I wonder is, did the convertible and 442 not sell well-enough to justify putting this one out?
