GeeBee Posted August 15, 2013 Author Share Posted August 15, 2013 I can't believe I haven't been in the hooby room since May to do any work, decided to get the Porsche out and see what my next move would be, didn't spend a lot of time in there, but managed to get the front windscreen frame covered in BMF, as the frame was originally broken I wasn't looking forward to doing the BMF incase any pressure burnishing down the BMF would have broke the frame again, luckily it came through o.k ..... Thanks Tony, just can't stand a cluttered work room, I like all my tools in a place where I know I can find them ...... It is true that this particular Fujimi kit is probably the pinnacle of 1/24 kits in terms of detail. I am in the process of building this kit too so I will enjoy watching your build. GeeBee Posted October 3, 2013 Author Share Posted October 3, 2013 (edited) I used to use Solvite repair adhesive for flocking, but they have changed the formula, and it now more wallpaper paste in texture than a PVA glue, so for this one I found a bottle of Evostick PVA woodwork glue thinned out slightly with distilled water, I find working on small sections at a time instead of trying to do the whole floorpan makes for a better finish, brush the glue on, sprinkle on the flocking using a mesh sieve, press down into the corners etc using your finger, and leave to dry, I usually let is sit on the side for around an hour before I touch it again to work on another section, the flocking I'm using for this build is a lot finer than I have previously used on other builds and I'm finding that two coats of the flocking fibres are needed. I'm actually in the middle of writing a book and the subject is how to do all the finer detail work on model cars, such as the Bare metal foil, flocking, painting, wet sanding & polishing, etc, when if will get finished or published I don't know at the moment, as I have never done anything like this before. Well apart from the 911 Convetible I built earlier, these Fujimi kits certainly have more parts than any other models I have built in the past ..... GeeBee Posted October 14, 2013 Author Share Posted October 14, 2013 Well as the weather is on the turn over here, it's time to crank on the heating and spending more time in the hobby room, got the seats put together, side panels all fitted out and fitted into place, plus the dashboard, some parts are a little tricky to get to fit, but nothing too hard, a bit of touching up to hide a few marks on the side panels, but once dry won't be noticed. Sorry, that was a slight 'Typo' it should have read "Working from" & not working on, I only wish I had a 1:1 356 sitting in my garage .....
