rsxs9400
Hey everyone, this is my first complete build that i am working on right now. I might have done one when i was nine or ten, but never completed it. This is going to be box stock but I would like to learn more about how to lower the suspension on other models (if anyone has a link, let me know!!) a thread is nothing without pictures so here are a few. Color is Italian red tho it looks kinda on the orange side in the pics. any suggestions? primed wheels painted(another coat to go) mock up Edited March 14, 2009 by rsxs9400
diymirage
awesome choice i totally love the DTM astra (and ont just because the astra is the antecessor of the E kadett which was one of my first cars) i've looked at this kit online several times and it looks like a great kit tamiya is a very reputable producer so m sure its a high quality kit they also claim its the only production kit with working gullwing doors (of course my deathracer has a working gullwing door but thats not production) im looking forward to seeing how this plays out what are your plans for paint ? i know this kit in available in 2 or 3 different stables so did you choice the holzer on purpose or will this be a (semi)custom paintjob ? Nick F40
I'm a sucker for DTM cars and this was always cool, with it's gullwing doors and super wide tupperware. Great color.

3men2s
YOUR FIRST BUILD HERE, BECAUSE I DON'T BELIEVE IS YOUR FIRST BUILD SINCE YOU WERE 10...... YOU BUILD THIS CAR OVER AND OVER IN YOUR HEAD CAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU R DOING HOW I KNOW, FIRST TIMER DON'T PAINT THE BODY FIRST AND DO NOT DO WHAT YOU DID IN THE FIRST PHOTO TO HAVE A PERSPECTIVE OF THE LOOK. NIZE BUILD.....GREAT START. Edited November 14, 2008 by 3men2s

I have been lurking around on a few forums and taking it one step at a time as i learn how things should be done correctly
RodneyBad
Well, your first build in a while is not the first choice I'd do. Even today.. Are you airbrushing or rattle canning? (is that even a word?) Your off to a Very good start..

Nothing wrong with it. I didn't think it was that easy of a kit to get started in. Carry on. Edited November 15, 2008 by Zukiholic
plumnuts
if you ask me yamiya kits are great first builds (if your not 10 and take your time) the detail aspect on the kits are second to none and thay fit together very well. minimal if any test fitting or sanding to fit. on the photo question (why does it look orange) it seems like the light above the kit causing it. try a soft white bulb or take pics outside. keep on keeping on dude . looks great sofar. rsxs9400
well it has been awhile and I started to think that this hobby wasnt going to work out for me. I went ahead and put the model back in the box. But, as usual, a rainy day came alon and i was bored so i got it back out. here are a few pics for an update. Front suspension is done: due to an issue while painting the window trim, i decided to go with a flat black paintjob. murda style: [ will have roll cage and rear suspension done tonight, so another update later! any comments appreciated! rsxs9400
the only thing i dont like about this model is that there is no engine to build
