I know it's hard for some of you to believe, that I'm posting something in here. ;) I'm glad to get back, too much talkin on here ;) I have also been helping out with my dad, some of you know, he had a bad fall and had to get hip surgery.

I've decided it's going to be more of a street car so no Chris, I won't have to do the decals! No PIAA, well maybe some....

So far I got the front suspension done, except for the brakes, and arms and such and got the engine in

For the exhaust heat wrapping, I cut a small piece of those AAA stickers you get in the mail, on the patterned section and cut it out, it's nice because all you do is stick it on and it's the right thickness too.

I cut and sanded teeth out, didn't really like the look of the grill it has, it has two small openings on each side

IMG_0639.jpg

a couple mock ups, the exhaust and wheels still need to be silver and the brakes still need to be installed...that's coming tomorrow!

I am also thinking of an engine, I do have the one in already but I also have a B16/18 from the Civic kit, I think the real motor is a destroked ITBd H22a straight racing motor, but they might have used the F and D series, the F series was known for racing also, but anyway same heads, but I need to somehow make ITB's....so I need suggestions on that if I am going to do it... B)

I'm so far going with Dupli Color Avignon Blue Metallic, but I also have a Dupli Color green, not sure about the name, but should I go with the blue?

here are more pics if you want to check them out. ;)

I just noticed that, now it's unlocked some more pics

I'm sure you do! B)

What color you suppose?

I always liked Testors Boyds Orange Metalic. That what I am going to do my R8 in.

For me anyway, blue always looks better in the bottle then on the body.

Remember my yellow GT2, it was three shades of blue before giving up and stripping it off.

I came ###### close to stripping my Starliner.

looking good though.

Yeah, like CAL said, it's about freakin' time! ;) You've been building how much longer than me? ;)

Seriously, good to see you building. Even if it is one of those torque-less wonders from the east.....

C'mon!!!! you know you want to start that quattro!!!!

(insert 5 cylinder warble here....)

But you said you wussed out on the decals. Hows it a race car with no decals?????

That is why it's going to be a street car, besides, the decals that go on the sides and hood are messed up, so I'm going to put some, just not everything :P

I like your ideas on this project, it's coming along nicely!

Thanks, I appreciate it ;) I have the exhaust and wheels in for paint so they'll be on soon, now I'm getting the rest of the suspension ready, so pics soon guys! :P

i have the JACCS honda and i am also going street with it. i want to build a G series 5 cylinder, with a big turbo, and a four wheel drive system for it. should be pretty cool.

good to you working. B)

you are amazing....I can't wait :o

Good choice of a car to build. I've built both versions of this kit. And yes, the decals are a pain. What paint did you use for your engine and transmission? It's a color I'm interested in.

I used all Tamiya paints except for what i'll tell you soo. The block was painted in Falt Aluminum then I just brushed the whole thing with black detail wash which gave it that green-yellow tint. For the transmission of course the end cover is just Gun Metal but the transmission I used my Turn Signal Amber mixed in with Semi Gloss Black and Gun Metal and I just put a drop of each and mixed them together and it gave that color. :D

Well got some updates, finished the front suspension

IMG_0683.jpg

IMG_0680.jpg

man, the front crossbrace for the arms and the steering bar was tricky :P first I glued it on as one unit but then found out it would go down in the slot right and cause the whole suspension to not fit in the holes and of course you have to keep the wheels straight to keep them out of the way and you have to put the notches in the arms where they can turn and you have to put all this in, well it was a fiasco the first time, luckily not much paint scraped off and I took off the front crossbrace and just glued everything else on and put in the brace afterward, and a little touch up....... just to have posable steering, it still rubs a tad but it is fine now  that is one item you have to watch out for

more updates soon, exhasut wheels, rear suspension, etc.

thanks for looking

  • 1 month later...
lookin good so far bro , i got the same kit i am about to start workin on it in a few days .

Well...it's a little late but yeah, it is a great kit! Decals sure are fun!

It has been over a month now, sorry for the suspense on those who watched this, sorry. I got it finished yesterday and got it polished for tomorrow's photo shoot, so look out for it. ;)

Progress pics!

The original PIAA hood decal got a little too hot when I tried the heat gun trick so I quickly got that off with tape and had to think of a new solution so here it is, my first REAL carbon fibre decal of this size on a hood and I must say, I am proud of how it turned out.
