DIY Decals - Question on handling borders

Recommended Posts

I'm currently working on a Star Wars Chevy Van where I printed off my own decals, and I would like to know how to handle this situation...

The image had to be printed on white decal paper to allow for Luke and Leia's white outfits to print, and now it has a ghosting border around the decal that contrasts with the dark paint. Since I don't have an airbrush or knowledge of the use thereof, what can I do to try and "blend" the decal more into the paint? Is there a way to cover it somehow without spraying anything on the body and risk losing all my work?

Thoughts?

Outside of fogging it in with an airbrush, I think trimming into the image slightly would be your next move. But I suspect there will still be a white edge. I don't have any suggestions to fix the decal on the body other than the airbrush. Even a cheap $10 external mix airbrush would work and maybe be cheaper than redoing a new decal.
