Truck buyers/builders and sellers on Ebay.

Did we forget the AMT Beer trucks and trailers? Like the Coors KW/trailer, the Schlitz Mack/trailer, the Budweiser Pete/trailer, and the Pabst Freightliner/trailer. I bought an ebay junker Pabst Freightshaker with the trailer for $75+ shipping in Dec. I figured I could use the junker cab for an interesting project I'm working on. Crazy, but the tractor in this set is hard to come by.

I especially want the racing truck combo. Mainly for the T600. I don't build racers, but the Pete would be made into a regular road truck. If Anyone ever sees the Revell AG Kenworth T600's(there are 2 different kits aside from this one, let me know. I would love to bid, but my truck needs tires right now, so it will have to wait. DarnIT!!!!!!! Hate to spend that much, but I would for this kit, you get 2 trucks, and the trailer could be converted. I know of a lowboy conversion that would involve this trailer. The Bill Signs Truck was a hefty price too.

Anyway, happy bidding. lol

Ray,

I've come up against one or two sellers who have been looking to buy kits. They bid early at very low sums and hope no one else sees the auction. Once some one else starts to bid and it looks like the price will be more than a few dollars they don't bid anymore. They must spend all day searching the web looking for kits. Buying them for a song and then selling them for inflated prices. I've seen a lot of these kits not sell. What people forget is that it is an auction and it is only worth what people are willing to pay.

That sounds about right. It would make sense on some of these awful prices. I never saw the beer trucks get this bad, 4 example, but i have seen where a kit i tried to go for was sold, and then it's right back on, higher priced too. The 3 Revell auctions I posted yesterday were kits I would spend some money to get, but I would prefer not to take too much money from my real truck. after all, it pays for the models. lol. I just like to go and look just for fun, just to see how bad it gets. By the way, love the 351 you did..

i don't blame you on that one. Spaulding's had 2 mixer kits, which I swear were mere copies of the mixer in the KW kit. One was a short barrel, and one was the same size as the AMT kit. Not on their price list anymore, been 5 yrs or so since I remember them offering it. I know I posted a lot last weekend, But I get a kick out of this subject. the W925 should be easy to find, and those high float front wheels/tires are available in resin from what I've seen.

Wow  !!!!!

That 1/25 Illini International Emeryville kit went for $ 224.50. Thats a tidy sum of money. I've been checking through eBay and online shops to see if there was anything worth having at a reasonable price when I came across this one on eBay:

Its frightening to think what my collection of kits would be worth, but then I aint collecting them to just sit on the shelf.:x The challenge for me is in the building. :D

The prices of some kits is extremely high in some cases, but then some days you find a real bargain. Just got to keep looking. I was after an AMT 1/25 little window Pete Wrecker recently, there were a number of them for sale on eBay but they all went for around $ 110.00 to $ 130.00 each. Then a week later a one came up for sale and a won it for $ 62.00 a reasonable price. I guess in the right place at the right time.

We realy have to put down the tube of glue, The paint brush, The spray paint. And take some time out of our build time, busy lives and pick up a pen or pencil, A piece of paper and dig in our pockets for a stamp to send a letter to some of these manufacturers to redo some of these trucks and trailers. That have been bringing some crazy money on evilbay. Maybe even we should get a petition going on the net and send it via email to the ceos of the main manufacturers to bring these trucks and trailers back to the hobby shops all ove the world. 8)

 AAARRGGGHHH!!! These prices!!! they are insane. I just paid $91.01 b4 shipping for a Frank Gortsema Autocar AT 64 F conversion kit, but I wanted that one since my teen years, so I didn't mind. That's the one with fiberglass hood that looks like a western star from the eighties. But every one of these revell kits I've been trying to get. I wish I knew. As to the Emeryville, it went from $15 to $76.01 by the time I woke up the next morning, which made me think I should probably reconsider bidding. It was on there for 2 days when it went to like $112. I probably made too many pruchases recently, but I firgured I should try and snatch up those rare, or at least rarely ever cheap kits when I can. Which is why I have 3 A64B Autocars. I have plans for those, but I got them cheap compared to what they normally go for. Dave, looks like you got a good deal or two.

Hi guys,

The resin Kenworth W900L w/studio sleeper is NOT a Clint Freeman conversion kit. The seller got the description wrong, or he just didn't know who built it. That conversion IS one of Matt's. Clint's Kenworth W900L conversion did not come with a sleeper and the windshield was the flat two piece version. I have a few of these kits.

Thanks,

Doug G.

What's goin' on...

I got into a bidding war w/ a fella a while ago over an original Alaskan Hauler (White w/ orange graphic decals) I threw in the towel at 210 greenbacks. More than that for a kit just isn't worth it to me. If I recall that auction closed over 300. About three months later the Alaskan Hauler was reissued for get this 49.95!!!!

There's a lot of backwards (and I do mean really screwed-up) psychology going on that helps FeeBay make big bucks. The guy is fartin around on there chugging a few beers and spots a kit he likes and convinces himself he's getting it for next to zip. I'm not talking about shills, which is a huge plague itself. After a few people bid, Bubba has had enough (not enough beer though) and sets his max at $200, then $300. He just isn't going to lose. he probably cant even afford it, let alone build it but he's the aplha male. It doesn't mean the kits is that rare, it just means you have to wait for another one, preferably one that ends at 2am Tuesday :lol: . A lot of the big kits are $50+ shipping, so if theyre out of production I can see $80-$100 but some of these cretins think they have atomic numero 238!

I gotta go, I'm NOT being outbid on that mint MISB Fantasy island Volare Wagon :lol:
