pete 352 and reefer outside pics

howdy yall i got this peterbilt 352 cabover off of ebay, it was a turnpiker turned pumper firetruck. so i decided to cleanit up and biuld a early 70's tom inman company truck out of it. my grandpa and dad drove for tom inman till he went out of biusiness around 1982. i am using a pete 359 frame, its a lil long but i think it will be just fine. any hints and reminders please let me know. thanks :)

i am using the 3406 cat out of the revell snap kit so i had to move the alternator, change the huge starter for a smaller one and make a new motor mount so it would fit

i got the cab takin apart, paint off and the first coat of primer for body work. i also cut and made my own steerabal front end.

i got the motor all filed and filled and painted white. i made my own outer wheel seal style hubs, got the suspension and all the axles mounted, i had to make new cab mounts and got them on so the cab can rest on the frame now.

I remember my daddy taking me over to Tom Inman's yard in Tulsa when I was a young 'un, to watch trucks rollin' in and out of the lot. Tom Inman at that point had a few Kenworth K100's, a few Freightliners, some Ford CL9000's, and a whole lotta Peterbilt 352's. The cabs were painted Pea Green (pale green), and had Winslow Moore stripes in Dark Green, Orange, and Yellow. I want to say the frames were Dark Green too. The trailer sides were White, with "TOM INMAN" over a modified block of a Winslow Moore stripe of the same colors as the cab. Both the trucks and trailers rode on aluminum wheels. That was a long, long time ago, so the recelection may not be dead on, but I'm pretty sure I'm close. Thanks for bringing back good times.

Tose old style front hubs, looks like you just modified the rear ones correct? Did you narrow the front axle any? My Granddad drove an old Emeryville, it had a front axle like that.

i used a shorter axle and i trimmed out some of the hub are inside of the brake drum so it will be more realestic. i used a front rim from the revell snap kit, cut out the hub oiler then took a trailer hub from amt and cut it down. i cut the face off of an amt rim and put the face of the revell rim on in, added the hub oiler to the hub and there it is. these style of hubs were used mostly on center steer axles if i remember right, with the wheels farther in it was easier to ster with out power steering. :D;)

Looks like a cool project Dennis.

Just something to be aware of you may have some fitment problems with the interior bucket over the Cat motor.

I converted a 352 with that engine and did have some issues with the turbo side and intake piping.

you are right there leo, lol since i biult that 4300 and didnt find out the front axle set back to far untill the end....... well im pre fittin everything now. i allready made the adjustments , she is tight but she fits now lol. thanks :unsure:

here is an update, i got the motor trimmed up and painted hit, the frame is all complete and primed for paint, i got primer on the cab and ready for a lil body work also made the "old school" exhaust rack.

With the longer frame, you could fill the space with some longer fuel tanks. Or extra Pete style tanks.

The AMT kit tanks might look too small with the long wheelbase.

i got a set of old white tanks im thinkin about using, i think they would fill the lil gap and look more like the ones in the picture. if they dont work out then its hello pvc lol :DB);)

well i got a couple small things done today, a lil paint on the cab , mudflaps on the quarter fenders and the front drum inner mounts cut back and painted. lol slowly but surely ;D ;D ;D
