1937 Chevy convertible: 1/32, old Pyro model, BOX STOCK???

Hello, This one is finished and posted under glass. https://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/190243-132-1937-chevy-convertible-box-stock/ Thanks, Ismael -
Hello, My first 100% BOX STOCK build in over 20-25 years! This is a Pyro 1/32 scale 1937 Chevy Convertible. This kit dates to the mid 60's. The kit is very basic and not the best candidate for superdetailing. So I went the other way: 100% Box stock. Everything here was in the box. Except of course for paint and glue 🙂 You can see the progress thread here: https://race-car-models.proboards.com/thread/3350/finished-chevy-convertible-box-stock Quite a challenge. This model suffered several setbacks but I was able to overcome those and finish it. Very brittle plastic needed very careful handling. Cobra Colors Ultra Black Cobra Colors Rosso Barchetta Scalefinishes Clear Craft Acrylic interior and tires Spray can aluminum brightwork. The kit has no chrome parts. 1/32 Hope you like it! Your comments and feedback are appreciated. Did I mention it is Box Stock? Thanks, Ismael

Hello, Entering the home stretch! By the way, in the background, that is a 1940's Wold A1 Airbrush... Thanks, Ismael -
1937 Chevy convertible: 1/32, old Pyro model, BOX STOCK???

Hello, This was close to finish. What happened? Well, this happened: Mating the upper and lower bodies, a very distinctive "CRRRRACK!!!" broke the silence. After a few choice words (and trust me, Spanish is sooo cursing rich far better than English), I went into repair mode. No, it is not perfect if you look close enough. The windshield frame also broke (already repaired) so this plastic does not like to be handled. Still need to get both parts permanently together. If it survives then it has a chance to be finished. Thanks, Ismael -

Hello, Remember this car was rear-ended by a low flying mosquito? I think I can stop polishing the trunk now and move to the rest of the car. Don't you think? Thanks, Ismael -

Hello, Shifter is a bit thick for my liking, but I promised myself this would be a BOX STOCK build. Plastic 2 piece wheel/tire. Can you tell which one is untouched and which one has a lot of work? Thanks, Ismael -

Hello, Amazing what paint can do to a lump of plastic. Box stock interior. 1/32 Thanks, Ismael -
Hello, The Corvette is 1/25 and the Talbot is 1/24 so the comparison may not be that dramatic. But it is still a big car. Thanks, Ismael

Hello, Wilson Pre-selector gearbox and driveshaft. Once connected to the engine it will properly align to the centerline. Thanks, Ismael

Hello, Talbot's chassis. Un-necessarily complex 15 parts. Hard to see but there are 5 colors here: Flat black, gloss black enamel, gloss black acrylic, Obsidian, Gunmetal Thanks, Ismael

1937 Chevy convertible: 1/32, old Pyro model, BOX STOCK???
ismaelg replied to ismaelg's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Hello, Everything is fine in Paintville. The offender was sanded off and leveled using Micromesh polishing pads. A good clean and another very light coat of paint was airbrushed. Since humidity is ultra high (any more and I'll grow gills), it dries a bit hazy. That's not an issue. At this stage I am looking for smoothness, not gloss. Still pending color sanding, clear coat and polishing. So there are still plenty of opportunities to screw it up 🤣 Thanks, Ismael -

Hello, So, in accordance with Murphy's law, 3 seconds after laying the most perfect coat of the most challenging color (black), a STUPID mosquito crashes into it... Thanks, Ismael
