unclescott58 Posted March 31, 2015 Share Posted March 31, 2015 I was a little confused on this grille at first. The grille in Revell's 4-4-2 kit is not correct for a normal 4-4-2. It is correct on the Hurst 4-4-2s and the Cutlass Supremes. For this reason I passed on the kit. I'm not a big fan of the Hurst cars. If it had the correct Oldsmobile 4-4-2 grille I'd go for it. Toner283 Posted April 1, 2015 Share Posted April 1, 2015 (edited) The Cutlass Supreme and the Hurst/Olds kits are out of the same die. If you have both kits in hand at the same time the sprue with the hood on it has the gate for the scooped hood closed off in the Supreme kit and vice versa. The gate for the uptop is also closed off in the Hurst/Olds kit so the only way to build a top up version of the Hurst car is to buy a supreme kit as well. The only other differences are the custom wheels included along with the stock ones in the Supreme kit and the decals are totally different. One nice thing, with a little bit of tweaking the uptop fits well on the reissued 69 Chevelle convertible. With some more involved modifications the chassis works well also to replace the one in the Chevelle hardtop or convertible kits too. From what I can recall , the grille is a Cutlass grille , and that the Hurst model of 1972 was based on the Cutlass, regardless of 4-4-2 option . Please correct me if my info is wrong . Full model still in '71. Option package for '72. The regular, non Hurst 4-4-2s have their own grille shared with no other Cutlass models. w451973 Posted June 10, 2015 Share Posted June 10, 2015 Not trying to be rude but just to clearify, they are not Hurst 442's. They are either a Hurst/Olds or a 442. Altho 68,69,73 and 74's were built off the 442 platform, they are still considered a seperate entity. 72 was built off a Supreme. 75 was built off a Salon and 79 was built off a Calais right on the assembly line. Even tho there were no 442's built in 83-84, the Hurst/Olds was still built on a 442 platform. Has anyone used one of those grills from Harts ? How does it fit ?
