Very interesting from the point of view of someone who mainly builds traditional style rods. First of all, here are pics of new releases not yet discussed to any degree on this board. There are three: I can’t speak to the ’64 1/2 Mustang convertible, but at 1/24th I would suspect it to be a Monogram reissue. The same for the ‘36 Ford, the big news there being that it’s a coupe/convertible 2-in-1 and includes the old school custom front end option, skirts, etc. as shown in earlier pics. Lastly, the ’32 5-window is finally shown in model form and is a mixed blessing with the Hemi, hairpin radius rods, steelies and wide whites on the plus side; but the tires are too wide and the same old funky firewall and single grill brace are still with us. Missing from catalog: Both ‘40 Ford Coupes – Good Guys Street Rod Still in Online Catalog ‘31 Ford Sedan ‘32 Ford Roadster – Still in Online Catalog ‘32 Ford 3-window – Still in Online Catalog So a heads up on the gradual disappearance of the highly detailed 1/25 ’31 sedan kit. We still have the pickup to fall back on, so all is not lost. Misnamed in catalog: 85-2085 ’29 Ford Pickup Street Rod – 1:24 (Part number refers to 1:25 Rat Rod Kit) As you can imagine, this was a near miss… B. Yeah, some of them in that series have custom wheels and tires, but some don't. Sometimes Revell seems haphazard in their groupings of kits in series.. I suspect the tires are from their Rat Rod series of kits, and the other new parts look good to me, particularly the hairpin radius rods. Looks like it might be close to a release. I guess the steelies are new. No matter. I have a good collection of Modelhaus resin (early) tires, and that's about all I use for my early rods. Later, Yeah, those would be great...I'd love to see a '32 Woodie wagon from the Revell '32 and that funky convertible w/ the framed side glass (B-400 convertible sedan). I have a '32 Victoria conversion (AMT body to Revell fenders/frame/running gear) pretty much done, with a phaeton body (AMT body to Revell fenders/frame/running gear) close behind and on the cusp of finished. Two weekends worth of cut and paste, but both look good. Pictures won't get put up here until I get back from Las Vegas (VACATION!). With a '32 roadster and three window coupe in progress, the Victoria and phaeton should keep me busy until the five window is released. Whenever that is! I've thought about doing the same thing eventually...have also thought about trying to build a stock 3 window coupe (do such cars exist in 1:1?) with the Revell body and trim and AMT wheels, tires, running gear.. Yeah...I too put an AMT Vicky body on the Revell chassis and fenders several years ago. As you can see from the pics, I didn't fix the problem with the way the bottom of the cowl swings up too sharply where it meets the sides of the hood. I cheated by adding a small bit of styrene to the top of the frame rail to fill the gap once the front of the body was lifted up where it needed to be to make the top of the cowl align with the top of the radiator shell. A bit of the anal bodyman in me came through in making sure it all aligned properly, but not so much of the anal side as to correct the shape of the cowl sides... This model has since made it's way up north to our topic starting friend Bernard's collection to serve as "reference material" for the possibilities of an enamel paint job. All the right parts are there (save the tires, I think), and I'd bet that Revell will sell a pile of them. Maybe more than the two door sedan. On the subject (project) of the AMT (Victoria) to the Revell fenders/chassis? The body I used is from the most recent Dirttrack Racecars version of the kit. The body tooling is still pretty good after all these years. I removed the original kit reveal on the bottom edge of the body (outside), and added some sheet strene to the front leading edge of the cowl area, using the Revell '32 sedan body as a guide. The AMT Victoria body has a rear wheel well that has a plastic filler that needs to be removed (easily enough) and cleaned up. Amazingly, once that wheel well plastic is removed, the body will sit down over the Revell fenders with very little cleanup. I added more styrene than needed to the front cowl area, and did the trial and error look-see, until the AMT body sat on the Rvell fender/chassis unit perfectly. It's my opinion that the AMT Victoria body is slightly narrower in width than the (new tool) '32 Revell bodies we've become used to, and I'm using a heavily modified Revell tudor sedan interior for the Victoria. However, The Vicky looks pretty good in the mocked up stage, and I hope to get a few pictures shot once I'm back from vacation. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I suggested that idea to Bill Lastovich about two years ago (at the annual iHobby show in Rosemont, IL), and Ed Sexton before that. Ed isn't a tub kinda guy, but Bill appreciates street rods, and I hope he makes it happen. I also suggested a coupe or sedan variation of the '48 Ford kit to Bill. Actually, I nagged him about it. We need a dropped axle up front, and (perhaps) a flatter rear spring to bring that big '48 butt down. I think a coupe OR sedan would be a winner.
