Joker
With thunder rumbling and the promise of more rain I'm glad the move is over and done with. Here is a small update.. Repainted the main body with a darker orange added BMF to the skirt spears, waiting a few more days for the second coat on the roof and top of the bed. 409 is settled in. Custom Mike
Great recovery on the paint James! I'm fighting with a paint job myself right now, looks like you've won that battle! The Dollar Store Awesome degreaser did a number on the Testors paint. Scrubbed the paint off with a toothbrush, some warm water and some elbow grease. The Dupli-Color black primer and the Dupli-Color Silver metallic paint were untouched..weird.So for now I'm happy the Testors was removed I'm willing to bet that the Awesome Degreaser won't work on Lacquer paints, which is what the Dupli-Color paints are. Gotta get some DOT-3 Brake Fluid to get those babies off!
Joker
This latest pic was taken at a recent R.A.M.S meeting by G.H. (thanks Geo.)Had to strip the paint and redo. Clear still needs to be applied and then BMF. For some reason I got two shades of orange. The name brand (Testors Fire Orange) ...weird. First can was used on the underside, engine bay and skirts.Second can was on used the body. As for the white part...I used Tamaya pearl white...it goes on thinner than Testors white lightning. Joker
I almost forgot about this one , glad to see it's finished ! I'll be looking for it in the " Trucks - Under Glass " section where it WILL be moved to . Hahahaha ...yeah I know... I hadn't touched it in about a month.. here's some progress pixs of the car show sign.. have to think on a name tho. The Stetson and Colt are from the Boot Hill Skeleton. The hat's crown was reduced and the gun belt is masking tape with a wire buckle. The board was carved with an X-Acto knife and painted. the underside of the hood and the upper "eye brows" from an Impala. the 59 kit has the "eye brows" molded in one piece. The under hood structure is pure imagineering. Impala bumper with over ride. Side spear painted gloss white with clear over it .Smooth bed cover . thanks for your patients I will take some "sunshine" pixs tomorrow.
