Jantrix
Is this bed from? I used in a build after getting it in a junkyard lot of parts. Edited September 3, 2012 by Jantrix
cobraman
Looks like a 55-56- Ford bed , no ?
Brian_B
Started in 53 ford...fenders continued through 79 with the same part number. Since they are sitting low on the bed...its an older one. Betting its from 53-56 kit. What does the tailgate look like? I have a 1:1 56 F-100 so I know a bit about them. Here is a pic of my 56 for reference: Edited September 3, 2012 by Brian_B
Jantrix
No tailgate, I added wood slats in some channel stock for the build.
Brian_B
i am not positive when the bed sides changed. They sold some "wrong bed" ones up through the mid 60s. Almost all were the stylesides after 56..but..some got the 'flareside" (chevy is step side) beds at the factory. They revived the flareside later on (think early 70s), but the bed sides were taller (no running boards) and wider. The same fenders sat higher on the beds until 79. Later bed with same fenders for comparison: Notice the bed rails are flat too? Edited September 3, 2012 by Brian_B
Jantrix
Thanks guys, I'll track down which kit it likely can from from this info.
Chuck Most
It's from the MPC (and AMT/Ertl reissue) '53 Ford Flip Nose truck. Judging from the light grey plastic it's most likely a relatively recent AMT/Ertl reissue part.
Brian_B
The bed is from the MPC flip nose '53. You can tell by the indents for the tires in the box Glad you said its from a modified truck and not stock. Those mini tubs were indeed inside the 3/4 ton long beds (taller) of the time. I forgot about those. I have a stock tailgate from one of them..that won't fit anything else. Looks the same...just about 1 3/4" too tall for my truck. It came on mine and I had to find another original tailgate to go on it.
