  1. Hey folks, has there been any movement on producing the Merkur XR4Ti and Oldsmobile Cutlass transkits for the Revellogram Camaro & Mustang IMSA/TransAm models? (And BTW, does anyone know where to find the Stroh's Mercury Cougar XR7 resin body for the Mustang kit?) I'm still up for a pair of Merkurs, if they're out there.
  2. Hey, it's the Bear again. Finally got a chance to finish up the Monogram Mustang IMSA; went with Heller's reprint of the original kit decals for the #11 Motorcraft Mustang from about '85-'86. The decals are thickish, but flexible, and really didn't need much in the way of coaxing from Micro Sol to fit in place. They were reprinted onto clear decal paper, though, and that's a bit of a problem when you have decals overlaying the big red striped areas--the "O" (for IMSA's GTO class) and the Mac Tools and Turbo Blue race fuel decals don't really stand out from their new background. No worries, though--my client at a local car dealership really liked the completed project, and I'm rustling up another kit to build... maybe the reissue of the BRE Datsun 510? I'll send pictures to the site once I figure out just how to do that. Seriously, this guy does produce some great looking stuff; check him out on eBay. L8tr!
  3. Not yet; I'm trying to finish up with my final semester of RN school, but the chassis has been cobbled together bit by bit over the last few months. I'm also doing the No. 6 Miller Mustang kit at the same time, plus some aircraft stuff. My wife is starting to think I'm having an affair, and her name is Revell
  4. Hey, folks, it's Bear again. After kvetching about the decals in an old Monogram SCCA Mustang kit I bought, I found the solution by accident on Ebay. Look up Jim Heller; his shop makes a huge variety of decals for all manner of model cars, from the 1/24 scale stuff I build all the way down to HO-scale slot cars. I've ordered up a replacement set for the Mustang and a BFGoodrich set for a Porsche 962 I have half-completed on the workbench. I'll let you know how these decals pan out. Thanks to dimaxion and kitbash1 for the assist!
  5. Folks, I have an issue. I drove down to Model Empire in West Allis, WI, and picked up a couple of older Revellogram race car kits, both IMSA/SCCA Mustangs. I just put the Folgers #50 together, and went to lay the first decal on the hood of the car. And it's the thickest, most inflexible, goo-coated thing I've used in years... which reminded me why I used to hate the IMSA/SCCA Mustangs! The later Camaros had no such issues. I've found replacement decals for the old Monogram Miller Mustang (red & white #6) from Strada Sports in Missouri, but does anybody make sheets for the IMSA/SCCA Mustangs? (And if not, does anybody have an old Penn Gwen Merkur XR4Ti transkit that they aren't using right now?) Thanks for the help.
  6. Strada Sports doesn't always have in stock what they have on the website. That being said, they never EVER charge your card until they have the item on hand and ready to ship. And Kevin Rodgers is very honest about any issues they may be having with outside suppliers...as an example, I ordered resin Porsche 962 wheels from Speedline, and Kevin wrote me to tell me that they've not had a resin caster for quite some time. When they get them back into production, they would send them right out. And they did, last week, and they're exquisite. Strada Sports is awesome, and Kevin is the real deal. Order with confidence, they'll do right by you.
  7. After getting multiple stories over an eleven-month period regarding shipping and production from Randy Frost, all over a $5 part, I cannot in good conscience recommend that ANYONE purchase any items from Perry's Resin. Customs in both the US and Canada were blamed, Canada Post and the USPS were blamed, he sent the part and doesn't know what happened, I should have had it by now... look, folks, I get that the man has a life, a family and a business to run. But if you don't have the parts, don't advertise them for sale to potential customers (are you hearing this, Strada Sports?). I did the mailing of an international money order thing, Jimmy, and it took nearly a year and finally getting the Better Business Bureau involved to get the bloody part. No flame, just fact--Perry's Resin should not be on your shopping list for the forseeable future. Chris
  8. Here we are, almost a year after I first ordered my little bitty intercooler scoop...and it finally arrived. It seems that the notification to the Better Business Bureau may have been the tipping point. It'll take a little trimming to make it fit appropriately on the 962 I'm building, but I've got to say this: the piece is exquisite! Why should such great quality take so long to get here, though? As satisfied as I am with this part, I can't see myself ever ordering from Perry's Resin again. The obfuscation, the outright lies, the shifting of blame, all of it has left a bad taste. Honestly, though I think Randy Frost is fine to talk to on the phone, this business model is horrible. Caveat Emptor, indeed.
  9. This is awesome news for a builder like me that missed the boat on the resin Fox-body notchbacks. Can't wait to get this kit on the build schedule in CHP colors. Mahalo, dude, for breaking the news!
  10. Thanks, 'Goblin... so I'll be checking out the ads in Model Cars and other mags. Wish me luck.
  11. I have a problem, and I hope that the forum can help. I'm back in the hobby after a long break, and one of the things I'm catching up on is IMSA Mustangs and Camaros. But the decals in the Mustang kits (Folgers, 7-Eleven, Motorcraft, etc.) are thick and inflexible, and the adhesive is this thick, grey-white, sticky nasty crud. I haven't seen any aftermarket repops of these sheets. Can they be reproduced using the Testors kit for home copiers, or do I need to have the decal sheets sent out to a pro? Thanks for your help, folks.
  12. So here we are, nine months after my initial order for a simple resin scoop, and my project is still gathering dust. When I was able to finally reach the very busy staff at Strada Sports awhile back, they said that they had lost their resin caster at Speedline, which is why they couldn't fill my order...but they never even charged my card, so it's all good. (And besides, they have a lot of cool stuff.) When I spoke to Randy Frost last week, he said that 1) Perry's Resin is now operating out of his basement, and 2) he's pouring resin into molds to ship out my order and a few others. It's my plan to contact him by the end of the week, and determine once and for all if I'm ever going to see the part, or my money again. Let this be a cautionary tale...
  13. Here's an update on the continuing saga: It's now mid-November, and I called Randy Frost to ask about my resin 962 scoop order from May of this year. Now, I get that he's running a shop and doing the mail-order thing. But, when I called him in July he said that he remembers sending it out, and he'd fire off another one. This time, he admitted that he didn't remember if he remembered to do that. The local repair shop probably thinks I gave up on the item I'm supposed to be building for them (the chassis and unpainted body has enough dust on them for CSI to run my prints through AFIS!), and now the replacement parts I ordered from Strada Sports in September ain't showing up either! I got one email from Dardenne Prairie saying they weren't in stock, but no reply to my emails back and only an answering machine to take my phone calls. Now, is there some sort of worldwide urethane resin shortage I need to know about, or have I just been screwed over twice, in two different countries?
  14. Awesome work on the GTP, man! Question: how did you manage to keep that old Revellogram sticky white decal adhesive from mucking up that beautiful paint job?
  15. This is my first time dealing with Perry's Resin... and I'm afraid that it's going to be my last. I ordered a simple little $5 resin scoop for my Tamiya Porsche 962 kit back in May, and here it is halfway through August with no results. No response to my emails, and when I called the place on the phone I had a great conversation with the gent on the phone. Except for the part where he told me that he sent it out six weeks ago, and that he would send out another one. This was in early July. I really want to try on the resin Ferrari 333SP, but if I can't get a $5 scoop in three months, what's gonna happen with a $155 kit? I'll get what I need from Strada Sports.
