stulee11 Posted January 26, 2012 Share Posted January 26, 2012 hi all i am in real bad need of some help... i have done the body work on my " flea market find " and its come to the painting time... i am using the same paint/primer combo i all ways use witch is automotive paint and primer. i have had no problems in the past BUT this time i have wet sanded the panels ... primed them and all went well till... i put the colour on and its doing this > i really dont know what has gone wrong but i would like to get it sorted before i paint the body...PLEASE SOMEONE HELP... lol thanks stu Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If you are decanting the paint and airbrushing it on,the paint may have not gassed out entirely. If you are spraying straight from the can,you're holding it too close and the propellant is causing the bubbles. I've got a bubble or two before,but nothing like that. When I do get a bubble,I take a straight pin and pop it while it's still wet. The paint won't lay down perfect of course,but it will lay down a lot and make it easier to sand out. It looks like propellant is getting trapped under the paint and trying to escape especially since it's doing it after you spray it on. Have you tried to pop or pull off any of those bumps after the paint dried? If they are hollow, it could be water or propellant. If they are hollow, it could be water or propellant. they come up as the paints drying. i have tried to let it fully dry out then rub it down and try again... but the same happens again... Brendan Posted January 27, 2012 Share Posted January 27, 2012 I'm with Mark on this one. It looks like it's moisture to me getting caught under the paint. A lot of times you won't notice it till the paint starts to dry. What I've done in the past to help get rid of the moisture after wet sanding the primer is I wipe the model down with denatured alcohol. If something is trapped in the bubbles, and you just push or rub them down, the problem element is still in there. So the problem will come back until the contaminant is eliminated.
