Hey Zac welcome to the forum. It's good to have another person in doing a dio.If you don't want to scratchbuild your shop you can go to www.scalemodelingbychris.com and look what he has to offer. He has a 2 bay with office building and also offers a 3 bay which one of the bays is used for a paint booth or a body work bay.He also carries all the dio accessories you'll ever need to put in the shop's.If you check out my dio (Smallville)you'll see the 2 buildings I'm talking about.I think he has reasonable prices for what he sells also. And by the way their made out of plastic and not bulky resin.Check it out I think you may like what you see.Any more questions you have there are some fantastic dio builders here that are willing to help.

hey george thanks for the tips and info your dio is awsome i wish i could build one as big as you did with all that detil and cars its just too cool i hope any ideas you may have you could share them so i can learn how to do stuff thanks :)

Hey Lucky,

Glad to hear you are about to venture into the diorama world. I have a feeling that once your IN, you won't want to leave.

Before answering your questions, I would ask some questions.

1) am I on a budget?

2) What to use for a base?

3) Will I be using this to photograph my models?

4) How much room do I want this to take up?

5) What raw materials am I familiar with or already have to work with (wood for base, posterboard for walls, drywall for floor or walls etc. etc.)

6) What scale am I working with?

7) Will this be a professional garage/body shop or a hobbyist garage?

Think about these questions, mainly the ones about raw materials that you have laying around that you could put to good use. It is a lot like planning a model build (color, style, chopping, cutting, wiring, lumbing etc.).

We have a very diverse group of dio builders here and I think we can answer any question you could throw at us. Give it a shot and keep us updated with eye-candy! :):P

well my scale im building is 1/25 cars and trucks etc.... im was planning on using wood for a base just because i have it laying around as for walls not sure yet thats what i needed ideas about and useing it for pictures, ya i probably will but mostly just for fun budget, im not wanting to spend 1,000s of dollars but i am planning on buying the tool boxes and stuff that i dont have to paint and a lift and i wanted to add a paint booth and make up some part stands and stuff that a body shop would have, also would like to have an office with a desk and couch and windows and a man door to get in and i wanted it to be a pro/hobby body/speed shop if that makes sense :o i hope that helps you out so maybe you can help me out thanks again :D
