Recommended Posts

My wife wanted a model to display in her office at LAD (Land Area Development) at Virgnia DOT, so I decided to do up the Revell snow plow kit as a worktruck for her...

Yup, with a blue borderline. I just borrowed a logo pic to illustrate what it will look like on the side of the truck.

Here's one on a white truck...

That must be the supervisor's truck with those fancy wheels on it! :D

That looks nice, should be a nice display for her desk when you have it done.

LOL! I know. I had thought about painting them white but I decided to just make them as close to bare metal as I could get so it wouldn't have the chrome glitter to them. I sprayed a combination of Tamiya Bare Metal Silver (AS-12) and Light Gunmetal to get the glare out, then left them without a clearcoat.

Looking great Allen. What brand and shade of orange did you use??

Thanks! It was all Tamiya Orange. I wanted a safety orange acrylic paint and this was relatively close, although since I started building this I found Krylon Pumpkin which matches that color perfectly. Ohh well, this one's not too shabby, LOL!

That's Krylon? I wouldn't have guessed! I do like these old trucks.

No, no... that's Tamiya Orange I'm using for this build. But Krylon Pumpkin is a match for "safety orange" and what I should have been using in the beginning. I didn't know that beforehand so I ended up having to use Tamiya Orange as my color.

Like I said, it's not bad at all, but I'm sure the Krylon paint would have looked much better.
