life is way too busy, plus some neat pics

Recommended Posts

Not much really, March is basketball seaon, so the news business around here gets quite busy. I have been trying to get some 'artsy' photos together for a show(I was actually asked to be in without any pestering from me or the wife). Ratings is only a month away, so I have started shooting stuff for that. Headed out to the US capitol in a week or so for that. The wife started a new job and that has made us busy on top of that. Plus with spring around the corner, the honey-do list has gotten larger (just like Leon...) I have found time to work on a few things, so here is the bench shoot for the month of march

Thats right, I have really only been working on cameras right now. This is a Zorki 3M. They were produced for two years 54-56 in the former Soviet Union. They are copies of the pre-war Leicas. This one has a roll of film winding its way through it right now. Once the film is developed I will know what needs to be fixed on it.

This one is completely disassembled right now. The shutter curtains, which are made of fabric, where in shambles. I am in middle of replacing the curtains. I hope to have this one back together by the end of the month.

As far as the 'artsy' photos are concerned I am moving along in that project pretty well. I think I have 10-12 picked out right now. One of my favorites is this one

I found that beauty just down the road. The junkyard that it resides in is jinxed I believe. Everytime I have gone to shoot there I have broken at least one camera, which explains the second one above(it died on the first trip and thus the complete tear down. This last trip, the motordrive on my Nikon puked the bed. But I was able to shoot a bunch of digital stuff, so here are some pics from that. There are 70 some-odd pictures at the link, so enjoy. Maybe I will be able to get to work on a model soon

If properly cleaned and lubricated, they can be near as quiet as a leica. They are the same design as the pre-war and early post war leicas. The lenses are exact copies of the Carl Ziess glass that went on the pre-war leicas and contaxes. I have been very happy with the quality of the images. The above black and white was taken with the Zorki 3 that is now in parts. The 35 mm lens that I have is great! It out performs my nikon glass. Although, I did get a new 24mm lens for the nikon and it is just too much fun. It will focus down to about 6 inches!!!!! I could go on for hours about the camera stuff, but this is a model board :D

So, am I the only one that got this?

Nice pics Ken. Though nowhere near as nice as your cameras, I have an old Pentax K1000 that I love to take pics with. My digital has spoiled me, but I still prefer the K1000, especially when it comes to action shots.

Hey Mike, if you are the only one, then I picked a bad week to quit sniffing glue!!!!!

Dennis, I am sworn to secrecy on the location of the yard and as far as I know, nothing is for sale. Makes no sense to me either :?
