THE UNDERSIDE!

I cut a piece of plastic to fit in the Engine Cover Hole. Then I glued it in place. I also cut 2 small pieces from the donor rear body to fill the 2 areas at the front corner...

Next I glued 2 pieces of Plastic Strip and glued them on the inside edges of the Access Hole. Then I cut another wider strip to fit on the front edge. This gives me a good shape for the Access Panel.

I cut a plastic piece to fit between the front corners. When glued in place it formed the bottom of the Intake Opening.

Then I cut the Access Panel from Sheet Plastic and fit it in place...

GLUE IT TOGETHER!!!

I did some fitting & cutting untill the top and bottom Rear Vents matched up inside. "Corregated Metal" Sheet Plastic was used to cover the Vents.

I can finally glue the Rear Sections together! (I was using Blue Tape to hold the body untill now.)
Next I cut 2 pieces of plastic to fill the wheel openings and glued them in place.

GOT PRIMER!!!

Finally got the body nice & smooth, so I applied a few coats of Filler/Primer.
I decided to remove the last of the front wheel bumps so I marked the areas for removal...

I cut off most of the excess plastic and then I used a sanding block to get the areas flat....

I cut 2 pieces of plastic to fill the areas and 2 more to fill the small triangular holes, then I glued them in and sanded them smooth.

ROUNDING THE REAR!!!

I cut the back of the AeroTrec off straight but I didn't like the look so I used a bowl and drew a nice curve for the rear.

Here it is after a little cutting and sanding...

The New Oldsmobile Rocket 88 !

Nice work Ira .

Bill Haley
Rocket '88 lyrics
Songwriters: BRENSTON, JACKIE

You may have heard of jalopies,
You heard the noise they make,
Let me introduce you to my Rocket '88.
Yes it's great, just won't wait,
Everybody likes my Rocket '88.
Gals will ride in style,
Movin' all along.

(Guitar solo, leading into steel guitar solo.)

V-8 motor and this modern design,
My convertible top and the gals don't mind
Sportin' with me, ridin' all around town for joy.
(Spoken) -- Blow your horn, Rocket, blow your horn!

(Horn sound effect leading into guitar solo.)

Step in my Rocket and-a don't be late,
We're pullin' out about a half-past-eight.
Goin' on the corner and-a havin' some fun,
Takin' my Rocket on a long, hot run.
Ooh, goin' out,
Oozin' and cruisin' along.

(Guitar solo.)

Now that you've ridden in my Rocket '88,
I'll be around every night about eight.
You know it's great, don't be late,
Everybody likes my Rocket '88.
Gals will ride in style,
Movin' all along.

(Fade out, ending with sound effect of a car driving away.)

GETTING READY FOR SOME COLOR!!!

I added Landing Gear from the AMT X-Wing Fighter Kit.
The body is now nice and smooth, ready for paint...

I cut a piece of sheet plastic to be the back of the interior and glued it in place.

The black areas were an experiment that went wrong. I painted the body with a Candy Blue, then there were drips and then I grabbed it and left fingerprints in the paint. So now I have to repaint the AreoTrec...

GOT PAINT!!!

I repainted the AeroTrec, first with a Black Undercoat, then with a few coats of Testors Lime Ice Paint. This left some Black in the Intakes, for added depth.

I used 2 sets of Tuner Tribal Flames on the sides. One set on the rear sides, then the second set cut short and turned upside down on the front sides. The Tribal Flames on the top and bottom are from a 12th scale Revell Chopper. Three coats of clear finished the job!
