MCM Ohana (6/6)

  1. Case in point: I recently posted a Porsche 911 Slant Nose that I ended up doing in pink. It was molded in red plastic and I wanted to do it in pearl white, but failed to undercoat it properly. The red bled through the primer and base coat of universal white Duplicolor quickly and it was pretty bright pink after the first coat. I've heard of undercoating with silver first, then primer and paint over top first. Might do that next time.
  2. Finished this one last night. It has a lot of options for a pro mod look, but I went with old school. Pretty happy with this one. The wood grain is all paint.
  3. Bright red Ford GT with white stripes on Polaris Parkway earlier today. Beautiful car.
  4. Excellent job! These are really surprisingly nice kits with a full engine. I want to do another one eventually and open up the engine cover.
  5. Oh! My mistake. The whole body was actually molded in white, frame was molded in black. Nothing was molded in red on this copy of the kit.
  6. Actually I used white inkjet printer decal film, and printed the colors over top. I let the ink dry for about 12 hours or so, then hit them with a coat of clear. There's a few spots where the color tried to come off, but I can live with it.
  7. I may take another crack at the Heller kit. It was pretty nicely detailed overall, but I think I'll redo the frame next time. The wheels and tires on it were so nice I kept them. I'll figure out another use. Still got a gluebombed Goober Wagon that I may have some fun with. Flat Ferrari 12 and tires from the 917?
  8. The worst part of it was the rear end suspension/frame. It's a little fiddly and wants to pop apart. It didn't help that the chassis pan on mine was a little warped. Still would rather build a fleet of these than the Heller. Just wish it had the engine.
  9. Looks amazing! So many times I wish I had a 3D printer....
  10. Pretty much all of my Testors paints did this. I ended up chucking them all. I mostly use Tamiya and Duplicolor anymore, or if I buy Testors it gets used up quickly.
  11. Organize? *blink blink* It's not at all. Some are in boxes, and I've got 4 tubs and two bags of bagged kits (had to unbox from the last move thanks to our neighbors bringing roaches)
  12. I like it. Saw the concept a few months ago and thought it was sharp. No arguments from me!
