rv1963
Thanks guys, Gene I just cut the header flanges out of sheet stock, kit parts were to thick and look more like cast iron manifolds than headers. I will have to scratch build those as well.
Speedfreak
Cool! I'm a real fan of this build! Building one of these kits is most definately in my future as I'm a big fan of '55-57 Ford's. One of my uncle's had a Dark Blue '55, or, '56 (can't remember which) Crown Vic when I was like 7-8yrs old with a nice dual exhaust set-up on it that I can still hear in my memory. rv1963
High time for an update, the first 2 pics show the body prepped for paint and in primer. The last pics shows the body painted, main body done in 3 coats of Tamiya pure white and 3 coats of pearl on top of that, the pearl is very hard to see in the pics, the roof is done in Testors revving red. The body does look a little plain like this but should get a lot better after I foil and add some decals. I think this is my first 2 tone paint job, so I was just going for a good finish with low difficulty so I wouldn't mess it up. All comments welcome. rv1963
Time for an update, I finished the decals, foil work an applied 4 coats of Testors wet look clear, hard to see in the pics but it has a pretty good shine. All comments welcome.

cobraman
Coming along nicely. I did go out and pick up this kit so I will be watching your build. When I opened the box I was taken back many, many years to when I built this kit so long ago. I really love having these old kits back again. rv1963
Time for an update, I got some more work done on the body, I installed the windows, head lights, tail lights, grille and a few other parts. I decided to tint the windows red to go with the roof, I also stripped the chrome off the grille and painted it to match the roof. I wanted a different look for the grille so I gutted it leaving only the outside shell and made an insert from aluminum sheet drilled a few holes and polished it. rustybill1960
A most superb build! Like your lathe work outstanding! I am most curious as to what it takes to do that kind of work? How difficult is it? I have seen many here that do it. I totally agree with your color choices and your foil work is immacculet, as is the decal work! Simply stunning work over all. How did you form the front axle? Hope to see the interior and the finished build soon Thank You for sharing it with Us here! rv1963
Way past time for am update, you guys know how it goes some times life gets in the way. I finished the interior and installed it, several scratch built items such as shifter and boot, fire extinguisher and the gas brake and clutch pedals. next I will work on the suspension. This kit will be finished in a month or so, at least I hope so. All comments welcome.
Speedfreak
That interior looks good Robert, nice job on the scratch built stuff, especially the shifter and boot. The tach looks scratch built too, or , at least aluminum.
rv1963
Thanks Gene, no the tack was a detail master part I think, the rest of the stuff was scratch built.
