What iconic if slightly funky European car will we get next?

Recommended Posts

I almost didn't include the 2002 as I was sure there had to be a kit of it already. All I turned up in 1/24 was a single resin kit, so I guess it really hasn't been done.

Understand the European model market is pretty fragmented between 1/43, 1/32 and 1/24 which explains some of the holes. The SAAB, Volvo, and Peugeot had fairly successful careers in rally racing, which provides me with a glimmer of hope for those.

I've been taunted for years by Heller who did the DS in 1/43 and 1/16, but left out the 1/24 builders. I keep hoping with Heller getting back on their feet, we may get the 1/16 scaled down to our scale.

MkI Fiesta's a possibility, I doubt we'd get a full US version but if they kit the XR2 it'd have the round headlights. Current generation Fiesta ST, maybe - in that case maybe RoG could do the Euro version as full detail with a US five-door snapper designed in such a way to make kitbashing as easy as possible? Or they could just do a Focus ST which comes with a heaping helping of doors worldwide.

I'd like to see a Morris Minor, too. And how about a Volvo 140 series?

Some variations of their existing tooling would also be nice to see, like a Mini Countryman or Traveller, a VW pickup or double cab pickup, etc..

Some other new tool items I'd love to see would include a '50s vintage Land Rover or a '60s-70s Ford Transit van or pickup.

Honestly I'd take a kit of just about any Volvo from 1944-93, but I didn't want to dominate the "suggestions" with a bunch of Volvos.

Morris Minor would be neat, when I was a kid there was one down the street from my house. It looked perfect for 6 year old me.

It was next door to a '49 Cadillac. I'm pretty sure it would have fit in the Cadillac's trunk like an escape pod.

I would like to see :

- Renault R5 in street livery

- BMW 6-Series Alpine or Baveria [sp] (European-only models)

Tamiya produced the R5 some years ago , but it was a Rallye-only version .

It was either Gunze or some other Japanese modeller whom made the 6-Series Alpine ; however , I have zero idea about the kit's contents .

Tamiya made the M version of the e24,also some group-A types. Fujimi did the Alpine in they`re Enthusiast Series, very nice kit with

lot of detail. And then there is the Hartge version, not sure about the content, but i think it is full detail as the Alpina. So there is plenty

to chose from.

Mine would be.

Audi Sport Quattro.

Mercedes Benz w108/109.

Mercedes Benz w111/112 coupe/cabrio.

Mercedes Benz w123,and a wagon would be awsome.

Ford Escort MK1.

Ford Capri MK1 2600RS.

BMW E9,stunning coupe.

Volvo PV Sport.

Volvo 245.

Citroen SM.

Fiat 127 & 128.

Opel Manta B 400.

Opel Ascona B 400.

Well, we probably won't get it, but I'd love to see it in 1/25th. DKW (Auto Union) 1000sp. Not iconic in its own right, but it does emulate an icon...

Wow! That's like a Palmer '57 T-bird!

And note the logo on the trunk lid.. yes, that is a prehistoric Audi!

I would like to see a Amphicar and a Plymouth Cricket.

I like these two suggestions. We don't tend to look at the Cricket over here in a very positive light. But, in other parts of the world, the Chrysler Avenger (our Plymouth Cricket) and its variations were looked on quite highly. The car was built for years. And was a fairly well looked upon as a pretty good Rallye car.

I would love an Amphicar...Ma's Resin is supposedly working on a resin kit.

how about a stock Bantam roadster:

you said funky, right?

and how about an MGTF, never done in 1/24 to my knowledge aside from the Southeastern Finecast metal kit:
