From what I see, there is a about a 4 inch "in reality" piece of fiberglass that runs down the center of the grill and across the bottom to close the gap between the fenders in front of the hood. That may be what is mentioned above. This is all part of the hood.

Hope this goes together well ( I know it will for you!). Eventually I want to do a 1:1 Of a '94 I had for a long time. Love the pics!

Totally getting there.....I finally got a meaningful update....Looks like everything is going pretty much according to plan.....There a lot of tedious things to do with this model....Not to mention the instructions are all but useless when doing it this way.....Still, though....Lots of fun....
