MCM Ohana (6/6)

  1. Looking good folks. Some nice work. I will be joining in. Usually by now i've decided what i'm entering, collected the parts and made an enthusiastic start before putting it aside until much later in the year. However, this year I haven't been able to decide what to build so i've done nothing yet.
  2. I have in mind to built a range of Gotham City PD vehicles across the years. All in Brunswick Green, White and Orange. 3. First time i've seen one built. Looks good. ??
  4. Built for this years Scale Cannonball Run (right here in the community builds). The theme was In-Line Engines. Bugatti Royale Phaeton. 12.7 litre Straight Eight with Javelin Engineering DOHC cylinder head and 14:71 Supercharger mounted on sheet metal manifold. Double A-arm independent suspension front and rear with four wheel drive. Trunk mounted long range fuel tank. Tools, spare wheels, doughnuts and an espresso machine carried in the rear under the tonneau. Navigation, communications and are updates by the navigators mobile phone (now THATs a major difference to when we started this. In year two I scratch built a full on computer set up for my co-driver - now you can do it all on a smart phone). Truck wheels and tyres are utilised due to the vehicles weight. Italeri 1/24 Bugatti Royale Coupe Napoleon. Scratch built cylinder head, inlet manifold and exhausts. Scratchbuilt gearbox. AMT monster truck transfer case. Scratchbuilt suspension using resin Ford 9" differentials. Monogram High Roller Chevelle wheels and tyres. Resin brake rotors and calipers. Kit body cut down into a phaeton. Tonneau from tissue and PVA Seats from my parts boxes. Eduard PE seatbelts.
  5. Ah, OK. So it's not that we can't poll here, just that if we do it's open to electoral tampering from Australia overseas.
  6. So, are there no polls on this forum anymore? We get shunted off elsewhere? Last time this happened we moved home... Just saying.
  7. I'll definitely be in this. Not sure what with though. I have in my stash one of these... ...and one of these... Both are long wheelbase bodies but for The Run my preference would be short wheelbase. For a SWB Chevy van the Revell kit is an option (and its a better kit than the AMT) if I can find one down here. For a SWB Dodge van however I am not aware of a 1/25 kit. Cutting down the MPC kit is an option but the one I have is my last one and as with the Revell Chevy they are not easy to find. Another option is the Lindberg A100 with either a scratchbuilt van body of the Flintstone resin one. I've long wanted to build an A100 van as there was one featured regularly in the only on-screen Batman which counts. I'm off to Evil-Bay to see what I can find...
  8. Bugatti Royale Phaeton. 12.7 litre Straight Eight with Javelin Engineering DOHC cylinder head and 14:71 Supercharger mounted on sheet metal manifold. 9. That's a bugger. I've finished mine with hours to spare following an all afternoon thrash. Bugatti Royale 033 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr Bugatti Royale 025 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr Bugatti Royale 009 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr
  10. Eductor truck looks great Scott, if a little clean. I'm making progress. Cannonball Bug WIP 28-11-2018 01 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr Since the pic above i've built drive shafts and PE seat belts, finished the blower drive and radiator, put the headlights and windscreen together and painted the extractors. I'm now a lot more confident in finishing (if I don't f**k up something - I could still drop it onto my concrete shed floor...).
  11. Spent all day at the bench. Most of it on the Bug. Cannonball Bug WIP 25-11-2018 01 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr Cannonball Bug WIP 25-11-2018 02 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr Cannonball Bug WIP 25-11-2018 03 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr I'm still hopeful. First thread says build time ends 11:59 pm local time December 1st 2018. This is important as i'm working extra hours next week and will only really get decent Bench Time on Wednesday (Rostered Day Off) and Saturday Afternoon... After taking the pics I carved away more front fender for exhaust clearance and primed the body. I then glued on two wheels before remembering I hadn't made the driveshafts and pulling them off again...
  12. Hmmmmmm, 10 days. Body is in primer. Engine is wired. Wheels are Alcladded and i've started on the seats. I still hopefull... Cannonball Bug WIP 21-11-18 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr
  13. I've entered three vans in previous Cannonballs. Nissan Sunny Vanette with a mid mounted Skyline engine. Scratchbuilt chassis and suspension. 2010-11-11 at 16-29-50 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr 2010-11-11 at 16-12-55 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr '77 SWB Chevy Van with Blown BBC. '69 'vette suspension at both ends & four 44gal drums of fuel in the back. Cannonball Van 003 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr Cannonball Van 009 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr '60 Chevy Panel Delivery with Pontiac 421. Kitbashed from an AMT '60 Custom Fleetside. DSC01648 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr I figure the last one would be eligible under the 2019 rules as it is a panel van built up from a pickup rather than a panelled in station wagon.
  14. Thanks Rob. That's upside-down BTW. I started painting the chassis today and put a check coat of primer on the bodywork i've done so far. I'm hoping there will be no more filler needed.
