Frustration Day

Recommended Posts

So first I go to Hobby Lobby to pick up some Testors Metalizer spray. $6.19 a can! Six freakin' bucks for a 3-ounce can of paint?

Oh well, it is what it is, so I buy only one can. I figure Hobbytown USA will have better prices, and they're directly on my way back home.

So I pull into the lot and see they're closed! They don't open until 11 AM?!!! Didn't know that! Ok, no metalizer for me.

Next item needed, Bondo 2-part glazing putty. I stop off at the home center store, again, right on my route home. I go to the automotive section where I always get it. Guess which one single item was out of stock? Not the novelty air fresheners (plenty of those)... not the fuzzy dice... no, only Bondo 2-part glazing putty is out of stock. Ok, no Bondo for me.

But wait... there's a Walmart across the street. So off I go, doing the usual Walmart "no parking spaces to be found within a quarter mile of the building" thing. Finally find one, trek to the store, over to the auto section, to the body repair stuff. No Bondo. I ask one of the mopes that work there where the Bondo is. He says only "select" Walmarts carry Bondo products, and this Walmart isn't one of them. Ok, again, no Bondo for me.

Now it's getting along towards lunch time, so I figure I can salvage my trip by making at least one successful stop... so I hit my favorite Chinese takeout place for lunch.

They were closed.

So what did I actually accomplish?

I wasted two hours, and burned about ten bucks worth of gas.

Some days it's not even worth getting out of bed...

you learned something, hopefully anyway: do not count on walmart for anything except a bunch of low life customers, not that they arent amusing in and of themselves. and unless you want to be mistaken for one of them, never go there to begin with.

Frustration Day, Part II:

Call me crazy, but I was determined to accomplish something today... so I actually went back to HobbyTown later, after they had opened, to get the metalizers that I had passed on at Hobby Lobby earlier because I thought maybe HT would have better prices. Guess what? HT doesn't carry metalizer sprays! The guy there said I was the only person who had ever asked for metalizer spray. I find that hard to believe. And I find it even harder to believe that a hobby shop doesn't carry the stuff.

It's not all bad, Harry. The Bears are still in first place, and the Packers aren't. :)

Yeah baby! :D

What a bummer Harry. sounds like a very fustrating day. You should look for a 40% off hobby lobby coupon to save a few buck on them spray cans. I cant belive how much some of those little spray cans end up being. heck if ou have a smart phobe just show them. the coupon code. if you need more than one can i would buy one at at time and get back in line to save the money lol

You Americans don't know how lucky you are!

Testors and Bondo are unavailable in Europe.

Here in Switzerland Supermarkets/discounters/hobby chains etc don't have model stuff. You have to go to one of the few remaining model specialists where a can of Tamiya spray costs $12 and a new AMT or US Revell car kit, if they have one, is $45.)

And the very idea of a 40% coupon would give the average retailer a heart attack.

I hope I have better luck then you when i venture out this weekend.

And at least your team will win. Green Bay at Houston? I'm a Packer fan, but man, we just can't catch a break.

They won't win this weekend, I can guarantee it.

They have a bye... B)

Sort of. When he said I was the first person who ever asked for it, I said, "well, consider yourself officially asked!"

We stopped carrying the stuff due to lack of sales and I think we get asked maybe once every couple yearsabout them. Even just to special order them, we have to order a box of 3 cans or 6 bottles just to get 1 of either and the rest just sit for years. Last time we had somebody order two cans, I bought the third so it wasn't just sitting around the store.

Harry, Harry, Harry.......if our info wasnt part of our posts, I would swear you lived in Fremont, CA. I'm used to all that stuff. Dont get me started or I might get banned. A town of a quarter-million cant support one hobby shop, yet we have noodle-houses on every corner, and in most strip malls you cannot find anything written in english.

We shop at wally world pretty much every weekend, and have a family member that works there, its so sad how you look down on people the way you do. So I guess that would make me one of those low life customers wouldnt ?

Just sad, very very sad

I will agree with you to a point, and at a lot of the valley wally worlds in valley, yes what you said is true about 90% of the customers ,but not all of them, thats my point I wanted to make, moving on now ;)
