old-hermit Posted April 5, 2010 Share Posted April 5, 2010 I started to build this body as a full cab pickup but didn't like the way it was looking so I stopped at a roadster pickup. I was gonna trash it but figured I had to much work in it so it's gonna be a rat RPU. I haven't decided what engine or really how I'm gonna finish it but at least it's not in the trash can. old-hermit Posted May 13, 2010 Author Share Posted May 13, 2010 A little update. I cut the spring off and stretched the front suspension to elongate the wheelbase and lower the front... ... Z'ed and elongated the rear frame and bolted in the rear spring ... ...took the front half of some Lindy wire wheels and made JC Whitney wire hubcaps over steelies ... ... real T's were steel skin over a wood frame so I made a balsa frame and aged it with a black wash ... ... same for the floor ... ... door handles are streight pins with solder wrap ... I took a bit of artistic license, around the bellhousing and trans, and spaced the exhaust for available parts, but I wanted a Hot Rodded Model A Motor for a project, so this outta fit the bill. ... another little update ... ... dash with guages & radio ... ... drilled radius rods ... ... drilled front axle ... ... and ya gotta have a horn ... . old-hermit Posted June 26, 2010 Author Share Posted June 26, 2010 Got Ralph's 4 banger finally without having to do bodily harm to the mail lady !!!!! I've been at it since about quarter till six this AM to get as much done while it's still cool. Heres a few pics BEFORE grease, grime and rust. Since Ralph only had two carbs and what street rod doesn't need three, I scratched up a custom exhaust and log intake manifold for it. I've still got some fine tuning to do to it so no paint yet. It needed a front motor mount so a little adjusting on a Lindy Exterminator one did the trick. It's reached 90 degrees here so that's it for today, more to come as weather permits. . The more I looked at the intake the more I didn't like it so I changed it to a single motysikle carb. Same thing with the front motor mount. Added some yaller front shocks just for a goof. and made a stock distributor for it. I still need to put spark plugs in it but you get the idea. old-hermit Posted June 29, 2010 Author Share Posted June 29, 2010 After setting the engine in place I realised I needed a driveshaft tunnel so a few modifications were made to the floor board. I also had to split the seat. It didn't turn out as I pictured so I might go with some bomber seats. Also ya gotta have a hood ornament / radiator cap. . I did some weathering to the engine this AM ( sorry to make your engine look so bad Ralph) ... What better way to oil up an engine than real oil ... and some weathering powders ...
