That it's a street driven drag car or what? I'd call that AMC Javelin a street freak for sure. I'd be terrified to give that too much gas. Qwit Pushin Posted December 17, 2011 Share Posted December 17, 2011 (edited) Took a trip to the NHRA (Wally Parks) Museum back in 2009, primarily to see my favorite gasser of all time, the Stone, Woods & Cook Willys. Unfortunately, they were shooting a television commercial there that day, so it was close quarters which made picture taking a very tall order, but I did manage to get these shots (sans flash, as it wasn't cooperating that day). And to get a ride in one that would be like a dream come true. I had a friend that built a straght axle 56 Chevy around 1970-ish. It rode an handled like garbage, except in a straight line. But man, did it look cool. I bought a 50 Olds straight axle in 1974. To say the ride was rough is an understatemant. With todays techologly I think this is not a problem, but in the 70's holy guacamole, they were close to undriveable on the street. I grew up watching the former lightning bug racing in Puerto Rico under Diego Febles care.
