Slim Louis
Circa 1962, I believe, retired ex Grand National owned by his dad, Shorty. Not real close to accurate do to lack of reference material, and color pictures, but at 50 MPH, 50 feet away, and you squint a little, it looks the part. AMT new tool 57 kit, Pontiac motor, My decals, except the white one. And an educated guess on the suspension, and other period correct details. I had a lot of fun with this despite the bare metal foil! lol OK, I see that this forum automatically reduses pix down to 83% Cool! Let me know if I screw something up, I get excited and carried away easy, sometimes!
LUKE'57
Now that is just too cool for school! I think I may have some pics and maybe footage of that car along with some others just like it in color from a modified race they ran at either Charlotte or Atlanta around '60. Those modified races are the main reason that the vintage stock cars you see today are re-creations. The Grand National guys treated those cars with kid gloves compared to what the Modified and Sportsman guys did to them.
Slim Louis
Thanks Jerry! Yeah they were pretty sacreligous with them! What kind of body on who knows what chassis, with a I don't know motor! That was pretty cool, back then. Check out my Stude WIP in the workbench section, Boss 429 and 57 Chevy chassis! Gotta love it!
