farmer1
Carl's story takes me back to when I worked at a repair shop that got a lot of calls to unlock cars, I was amazed how many times they had a spare set of keys for just such an emergency, in the trunk or glove box or hidden under the hood, the record I remember was 5 spare keys plus the set still in the ignition all locked inside the car ! I got pretty good at not laughing til they left, and yes, there was a charge for that service.

Ace-Garageguy
My inlaws used to keep the TV controller on top of the TV Kinda like keeping the bullets locked in a different location from the gun...also locked up. "'Scuse me, Mr. Bad Man...my wife is afraid of guns, so everything is locked up and safe. If you'll just not hurt us for a few minutes, please, I'll go unlock the gun cabinet, then unlock the bullet drawer, load the gun (if I can remember how to do it) and point it at you (I'll be way too terrified to actually shoot, though). Mmmkay?"
jbwelda
how exactly does a camera on the street know you are not wearing a seat belt? I didn't know image recognition technology had gotten to that point. or is the idea that it takes a photo of everyone passing by and then someone looks at each one to see if there is seatbelt compliance? sure sounds fishy to me. about the loaded weapons...around here you are in big trouble if 1) you are caught with a loaded weapon even in your own house, and 2) you shoot someone, even defending yourself on your own property, and you better have really good proof of the facts in the matter or you will be staring at a prison term. can't have any fun in California anymore, I swear. jb

jbwelda
those hide-a-key boxes are too well known, that's exactly what most car thieves look for first. especially when you consider you are going to hide it somewhere easily reached so when you do lose your keys you don't have to crawl under the car. maybe its different in Norway but here, might as well not even lock your car. jb

High octane
Back-in-the-day I had to break the vent windows in both my car and my parents car as I had locked the keys in them. Then while at work I had to use a slim-jim to open the lock on my truck as I had also locked the keys in the truck as well. I eventually carried a spare key in my wallet also. I don't remember if we ever sold a box like that so maybe most people thought of it as too much of a risk.
