I'd just find a newer one and set that one aside for some kind of "custom" model that those problems might be used as an advantage.

I believe MCW also has at least one or two conversion kits for the Lindberg '61 as another alternative.

I have the Lindberg 61 Impala but it's one of the originals with the badly misshapen cowl. Is there a way of knowing which kit has the later corrected cowl? Is the box art different on the corrected ones? When I search the kit on eBay it comes back with a number of different box arts...just want to know which one is the corrected body....

I have the issue with the red car on the top with a mostly white background

Hi Anne... I thought the Lindberg 61 Impala kit was pretty good myself...nice detail and built pretty nicely so Id say it was a good kit in my opinion.

Sounds like you're on the right track... Most of us have a buy to build ratio that's a little one sided :D

Most of the newer kits by Lindberg are worth building.  The '53 Ford and '61 Chevy are really nice, so's the older 1/20 scale kits if you can find them.

Anna, the VERY early issues of that kit WERE kinda "Twonked". They had a windsheild/cowl area that was more rounded that it SHOULD have been. It was released LIKE THAT. When the buying public informed Lindburg their mistake, they REMOVED it and RE TOOLED it to it's proper, present form. BOTH kits build up VERY nicely, and ,to be honest with you, they BOTH LOOK good when done. If you weren't told, or didn't really know WHAT a REAL 61 Impala looked like, you probably wouldn't tell.It was only the HARDTOP, the Convert came out AFTER the retooling, so it's cool.

Builds up nice.  Tyres seem a little undersized (I replaced them) and the stance needs adjusting if you want it to look like Don's (I went up at the front & down at the back)
