Free(almost) coil springs!

Recommended Posts

I had to go to the hardware today to get the stuff to fix a leaking faucet.

When I got the repair kit for my Peerless/Delta faucet I noticed that they still put both types of springs in the pak. All of the new faucets use the short tapered springs where the old(and I mean really old) style uses a straight coil spring that looks to just about perfect for 1/25 cars and trucks. If you know a plumber, they may have several pair of these springs you could whine for. But the whole repair kit was only $1.59

PS the best part is they are made of Stainless Steel so they will look good for a long time to come.

Hardware stores (if you can still find one) carry spring assortments that they'll let you paw through. And they're cheap too. You can sometimes get a longer one and make 2 out of it. Also look at ball point pens, many have perfect model car springs in them.
