Hello ford people: New member here, I have a nice 1970 fastback mustang 1/25 scale, and no it's not made by MPC or AMT or monogram, or PALMER, I want to find out who made this kit, when you first see it it looks like a MPC,AMT,MONOGRAM. But the big diffrence is the grill, it has the 70 mustang fake scoops molded in with the grill, you know what I'm talking about the 2 fake scoops next to the headlights on both fenders, thats the biggest diffrence I can see, on the MPC and the AMT and the monogram these scoops are molded in the front fenders, I know you would like to see a picture of it, I'll try and get one on here, I know there's a lot of Mustang freaks out there that might know about this strang kit, like WHO MADE IT? Please reply thanks. Mike mobrien@kent.edu

I know nothing about Mustangs, but I do know that pictures are always helpfull. If you can take pictures and post'em, that will really help people help answer your questions.

Ken, ONLY AMT popped the 69/70 Mustangs in 1/25th scale. MPC's 69/70 Mustangs were underscale at 1/26th or 27th. Not till Revell came out with the 69 Cobra Jet Mach 1 Mustang a while ago, that theres been a 25th scale Mustang of that year.
I've never seen the Palmer kits of those years,so I can't vouch for them. Could you have the CUSTOM grille from the 70 AMT kit? it sounds kinda like it might be,from your description. A pic would be GREAT, as I have both a 69 and a 70 AMT Mustang in my stash, and I could check for you, just to make sure. :D

George,

Back in the day, Revell made a 1969 Mustang Grande (coupe) and I believe it was updated to the 1970 version before the body became a Funny Car in the early 1970's. It too, was 1:25 scale I think.

Hello George: Thanks for replying to my question, but no this grill is not from another kit, even looking at the engine it is not an amt, mpc, revell, monogram, I got to get some picture of it, oh all of the palmer kits I've seen the body is in 4 pieces, oh and the color of this 1970 mustang fast back is like a color I've never seen in a model, it's like an beage yuck. Please reply thanks. Mike

Actually,, Palmer did a few 1/25 models with a one peice body , a"'70 Mustang" was one of them. [also a '72 Challenger and a '40 Ford] not great kits even back then. Testors and Lindberg have reissued them over the last 10 years or so. From the description of you'r mystery Mustang, I'd say that's what it is.

Mike, I'd hafta go with Steve on this one.Sounds like it just may be a Palmer kit.I've heard they did pop a 1 pc. body unit for the 70 kit, but, as I said I've never seen one. I'd take Steve's word on it, he does know his sh8t! ;)
