What type of paint? Most Enamels will come off with enamel thinner with out harming the glass.
If it's a hotter paint (lacquer, etc...) then i would try polishing it off with a polishing kit or super fine rubbing compounds.

Model Master Airbrush thinner will clean off just about any paint, even lacquer, without harming the plastic surface. I usually take a Q-tip and dip it into the thinner, then very carefully stroke the surface a little bit at a time. Don't scrub too hard as it will leave tiny scratches.
Afterwards you will want to polish the surface and then wax it to keep it shiny.
