Thx. Here are a couple more pics. This one won the S.W. Challenge in Dallas around 1989. Only reason it won was that the judges moved a woody on a beach from Diorama to another class. That was built, of course, by one Jairus Watson.

Fantastic dio. How on earth did you get the realistic rust look. I love it. Makes you want to start work on a great ol' project car!

Here are a couple more pics. (i hope) the rust was done by painting the car with Kryloon red oxide primer. After it dired, i sprinkled on baking soda. Then paint with the flat black. After that dires i rub the model with an old tooth brush and the black comes off where the baking soda was. There is normally a guy welding on top of the car, but he's in a differrent dio right now.

Terrible spelling. Sorry. Typing on my laptop in the dark. The Lincoln welder is scratchbuilt using a 4 cylinder continental engine from a Willys jeep. Seat was scratchbuilt. Upholstery is material from an old t-shirt.

wow! thanks for sharing the "rust-look-tip" . You've got my brain working ovewrtime now. The 36 chev in my present dio on the go needs lotsa fading and rust on the roof and front fenders. I can't wait. Must try it on some scrap and play with different results. This realistic stuff is quite addicting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Manfred a.k.a. Modelfritz
