By simply foil-copying the nameplate and relocating it above the character line, you have a '68-'70 model.

At the risk of sounding ignorant, what is foil copying?

That's burnishing some foil over the emblem, just as if you were applying bare metal foil, but using the pattern you pressed into the foil to move the emblem.

Kevin, I'll let you know if decals work out. I took some good close up photos of the various style badges a few years ago with the idea of drawing them up for decals or photo etch. I bought an ALPS printer a few years ago so at a minimum I think I could do bright chrome like decals, I also bought one of those Micro Mark photo etch kits but haven't played with it yet to see what kind of detail is possible with it.

Does your Mack brochure list available engines? It looks like an inline 6 and has diesel badges on the side. I had read somewhere that they only came with gas engines, the likely candidate being a Mack rebadged Chrysler 413 V-8. Obviously with your photos diesels were available. I'm also interested in seeing more info on the FWD trucks.

For those of you with multiple years worth of brochures I am particularly interested in some of the year to year details, like when the C500-550 and 950+ were dropped (late 60s I believe), and which Cummins diesel was offered and which years. I've seen conflicting information as to whether or not a Cummins was even available in the C series or only in the H, and if one was, I've seen both V (Vine, Vim, Val) and inline engines mentioned, but nothing I would consider solid like a manufacturer listing.

Sorry if it's two years late, but I did get around to snapping some engine and underhood (under-cab?) pics.

The large springs just in front of the rad, where the cab pivots.

The Mack motor shown on the previous page is an END-673, its a non turbo version of the ENDT-675 found in the R685 and DM600 kits.

It's really a neat model. I have quite a few. What is often overlooked by modelers is the little grille right behind the door. It's supposed to be there, but there's no hint of it on the model except the spot where it should be. Here's examples of my efforts to add this detail.

Was that a scratch-build air intake, or are there some purchasable accessories for this car?

I understand at one time the intake was offered in photoetch, but I've never seen them. I scratchbuilt mine, you can see no two are exactly alike.

Is there anyway to convert the stake truck into the tractor version? I imagine that you can because it comes with the 5th wheel.

If you know the wheel base, then cut the frame rails down since they say the

Cab frame rails are not in the box this time.

That was why I waited until I found the kit with the white truck on the box. It has the short rails included!

Anyone know if the re-release that showed a white Ford C Stake body truck on a medium blue background has the additional frame rails?

http://www.google.co...,r:12,s:0,i:119

I just ordered one to build this:

This truck served in the neighboring town from where I first ran as a firefighter.

David, I'm told that the "New " re-issue will only have the "Long " rails used normally in a straight truck configuration . The Stephens International re- issue had both .
