Having owned a '77 shorty for a few years I can guarantee you there's no way on a 1:1 you'd be able to tuck the tire up that high in the front. Now on a model, anything is possible, but the pic you posted of the late model Japanese van is about as low as you can realistically go in 1:1 without cutting the wheel wells up and taking away the remaining foot room for the driver and passenger.

This is a neat twist on an old kit. I like it. Reminds me that I need to finish my twist on this kit. BTW, the grille in the kit was never done in 1:1. It is a phantom grille.

Interior wheelwells are tubbed and they really don't leave alot of footroom before or after.

You only need room for the Go Pedal.
I'm also using a 4 spd tranny so I will be using paddle shifters and an Auto clutch.
Or, it's a Automatic 4spd? IDK.
One of my issues is doing the front suspension. If anybody has an Idea of maybe a kitbash
or something, I'm open for ideas.

Tubbed interior tub, Only kidding around with it tho, it won't be sitting this low. (another project?)

Don't pay attention to the brake calipers, they're just rolling around for now.

BTW, I answered you'r grille question in the "what I got today" section. It was never made that way. They [AMT] just took the regular '80/'81 grille and doctored it up to look like the grille on the earlier van in the Cannonball Run movie.

They did a round headlight grille for those vans but it didn't look much like the one in the kit.

I just wanted to see the mess they made.

They just fudged the grill like monogram did on the Ramcharger.

Mix them up and ya get No Particular yr but a few all in one.

Alrightie, Rod, here's mine...

It's going to be a dually 5th wheel hauler eventually. After I'd been reading the Dajiban thread, I dug it out and walled off the back end, and did a little more bodywork today. It might even end up with a big, polished airfoil on the roof.
Then again, I've never built a 'Red Green' Model, and I have another ambulance kit, so maybe I'll build one of these...

Some simulated scale duct tape, a few 50 gallon drums from the C-600 stake kit, and bingo-bango, DIY Applesauce machine!

Cool, I've thought about doing something like that too if I can get an Extra Dodge Van.

I'm not too sure about the AppleSauce Paver.
That'll make some awfully dirty AppleSauce.
Duct tape would be easy, just get some Dull BMF I'd think?
I did see the build of the Red Green Van Thread.
On a Sad note, I've never watched the Red Green show.
Even tho I thought I might have ran across One episode, Maybe, Long Long time ago.

Thanks, it's Testors Lacquer, I love this stuff. It might be an older one, but the interior leaves alot to be desired so the rear windows are getting either mirror (if I can do it) or black limo tint.

Ut oh ... I think I'm sensing a signature. But the Rising Sun DOES look good on a van, especially with it wrapped around front and back!

The ride height does look good in my eyes, although I had thought this type of van was lower .. probably my imagination.

Your probably right, I can still lower it a bit more up front with some Camber and
Notch the rear frame.
Before I just ran the metal axle straight through the frame and place the front axle above
the frame.

The paste up you showed made me thing of the wrap as the rays are positioned. The front looked like a fat ray would surround the grill top and bottom .. cool. The back wrapped as shown would also be very distinctive ... followers wondering what the heck is that with those red bands ... and pulling up along side at a light.. Oh WoW!

I am assuming there would be a sun on both sides. If not.. wow.. imagine the one side continuing as on your car. You CAN'T lose no matter what!
