From Scale Auto April 2011, Ken Hamilton has a great tutorial on making a 1/25th scale mexican blanket, I have been wanting to make one for ever and on his fotki site has a step by step tut!!! Awesome work Ken Love your work and keep em coming!!!

The magazine is not unmentionable, 
it was the April issue of Scale Auto, and they did the same article a few years back. I did one, they look pretty cool.

That was great. I've been going to the craft store looking for cloth I could use for one of those. Never really found any. So much for that. Now I know what to do!

Just a word of advice, start with clean hands and try carpet tape. My first try on masking tape and half way thru the tape looses its stickyness. But since I have been using carpet tape, havent had a problem with it not sticking. Pics soon.That was great. I've been going to the craft store looking for cloth I could use for one of those. Never really found any. So much for that. Now I know what to do!

This is my way how I make "Mexican Blanket". This is not my idea, I got it from some here in the states
Materials you need:
Sizzor
Cleaning tissue for glasses
Scotch tape
Computer
Paint program like Ulead Photo Explorer
Printer
1. Google around for some mexican blanket and downlaod them on your computer.
2. Use your prefered paint program to rework the picture if required.
3. Take a sheet of cleaning tissue for glasses or other tissue. Make your own experiments to find out which tissue works best for you.
4. Cut it down a bit greater than the size that you need.
5. Place the dry cleaning tissue on printer paper and fix it with Scotch tape. Keep in mind that you put the Sctoch tape on those sites where you want to have fringes.
6. Put it into your printer. I use a HP Deskjet 959 C
7. Print the image.
8. Carefully remove the tape from the dried tissue
9. Now it is time to make some cuts for the fringes
10. Thats all
