While I wait for primer to dry on the El Camino project I've pulled this back out and am on it in between drying times. This is a reproduction of the roadster Don Emmons built way back when for the Model car Museum.
The front end is just sitting on blocks to mock up the ride height (front axle has been epoxied in place)and the rear end is just a mock up from another Deuce. All the actual pieces are out for re chrome as Mark G gets time to clean up and send more to the plater. I am cleaning stuff up as time permits and detailing it out while I wait for the chrome to come back.I have been following the original write up as best as I could to reproduce this model.

Steering box assembly. I cut it apart to be able to paint it then assemble the pieces to properly operate without any visible seams or glue/paint issues getting in and locking up the box.

Got the final coat of base white on the body this morning. Hopefully it will be good enough to put the red on tonight. We shall see.

You do have a good start and good luck with the build.

Easiest way I've found is to put some Vaseline on the gears & shafts then use Tenax liquid glue on the exterior seams.

Got the red on the body the other day. Need to color sand it a bit and get some more color on it. (needs 2 more coats) Then it's off to a paint booth to be cleared.I've painted everything I've built outside thus far.

back on this for a bit!!!! yeah I know, holy thread revival lol!
Waiting on the chrome from Mark G who says it's close so it's back out on the table while primer dries on another project. Much of this model is done actually and only needs chrome for most of the assembly process. Steering box and master cylinder are permanant now. Got 2 of the 3 carbs done. Even started on the floor boards! carpet is sticky backed from a hobby lobby i think, over thin hobby plywood in the orginal dimensions.



Once the chome is here it's going to be on wheels with quickness!!! Only thing left is the water pump, pullys and the alternator.

Hmm, looks like do to the change in Photobucket the pics aren't up anymore. I will get on here in the morning and fix this issue.

The chrome has been slowly coming in. It would have been up on wheels but Dale Horner had an issue with the rear axle not plating right so he's redoing it before sending it back out to me.

Here's how the frame sits as of today. The white spot on the block is just glare from the light. In order to not have any glue marks I epoxied every thing in since it dries clear and doesn't mare the chrome finish.

 Got a Saturday to myself so I am working on floorboards and ride height checking clearances.

 

Start of the floorboard follow the original article.

 

Still need to do over the rear end and the foot board area behind the pedals. Waiting for the epoxy to cure longer before messing with it too much though.

Once the floor is finished I will carpet it with some sticky backed carpet I bought at Hobby Lobby.

 

Ride height. I had to rob one of my extra 1/8 Dueces of it's rear end for mock up while the other pieces are still being chromed.

 

 

The body is actually resting on the spring perches at the backing plates so it will have to raised up just a hair then reclearanced out once the floor is done and the truck panels are fitted.

The trunk panels will actually keept he body from falling down in the rear.

Thanks, It was the limited edition kit. Blue box with red car I believe. Came with a certificate of authenticity. (Oooooooh lol)

Getting closer to finished..... GSL getting closer too!!!! Gotta have this thing done for GSL since it's going in the museum!

Body waiting on clear and the grill shell and deck lid waiting on color and clear. Motor in for good and the whole front on the engine is finished up. Still need to modify the pass side header and paint it. All that's left after that is to modify the seat and the kick panels need to be shorted to match the channeled body. Still need the rear end housing from Dale Horner so it's still on mock up rear end for now.
