Engine is partially together and test fitting all of the various major parts together with the engine & tranny in the chassis...

James, I googled many references and found several different variations of the valve colors. Some showed black like yours some showed aluminum with the coil packs being black. Same with the intake manifold.

I am thinking to use the engine cover so most of the mill won't be seen anyway.

You thoughts?

That Caprice was my first ride as a district sergeant. That was a sweet, sweet car. I had a friend in fleet services who kept that car off the trade list for over a year so I could keep it. We actually hid the darn thing one weekend, so it wouldn't be noticed and turned in.

On another note, I'm sitting here all buggered up having left the ER. Got plenty of time to build, so on with the show! Pics to follow, if I can find anything while on these good good meds........

I think it was really hot in North Carolina today. I think I'm going to have to get out of my second load tomorrow...

Oh wait the engine cover...yeah I plan to use mine, so it will all be hidden. I think a lot of the coloring depends on the year of the car. Similar to the two tone (light gray/dark gray) interior in 2006/07 to the all dark gray interior since then...

Windy here today, lookin' to get real hot by the weekend.

I've never driven the PD version, sat in one and looked around though. I had an '07 as a rental but a never looked under the hood.

I just drove an '11 last weekend as a rental. Didn't look under the hood this time either.

Ok in between drug induced periods of sleep I accomplished quite a bit on the Impala's interior.

I painted and assembled the radio, siren, and light switches as I remembered them from oh so long ago. These are resin copies of the parts in the old '70 Ford police interceptor kit.





I detailed the steering column with gear shift and blinker lever. These will be silver with black knobs. I made the knobs from superglue and accelerator.

quik guestion. What kit could have some white "POLICE" text decals. My NYPD decal set dont have them, but i would like to find them for trunk and hood? Those numbers also over trunk would be great.

Janne, the set I used is long out of production, but if I recall the "Gotham City" police car and the "TJ Hooker" police version of the venerable '78 Dodge Monaco has some white "POLICE" decals.

Check www.policecarmodels.com look in the decal section. There may be generic marking sets there.

That i was thinking too. Orginally these decals for NYPD car are ordered from there, but when i was making my order i didnt realize that sheet is missing some minor details. Well now im wiser and make order maybe in next week. Its maybe the best place to getting some Police stuff in scale.

Here we have chassis on wheels. Some minor weathering and rear shocks and its complete then





Oh and I LOVE look of that blue in sun shine.

Those Bill Bozo decal illustrate the problem I've always had when someone tries to make a sheet that covers all the options, but only goes half way about it. It includes proper District markings for all 8 Districts, and goes so far as to include the S.O.D. (Special Operations Division) markings for the K-9 units. But the roof and car numbers are only accurate for a 2nd District car (or a 1st or 8th D cars if you scramble them). I know it eats up decal sheet space, but come ON, live a little and include enough numbers to do all the cars the rest of the sheet offers.

The only Expedition of that body style I've ever personally laid eyes on in D.C. is this S.O.D. Mounted Unit.

I might have to get in on this, as I just bought the new Lindberg Texas DPS Charger, and a Revell snap Impala. I also have a 98 Z28 destined to become a Texas DPS car.
