Thanks to Polsr lights and Revell, there are quite a few nice Batman related models out there these days. Add to that the resin kits and the subject matter it's self and the possibilities are nigh endless.

I am a big, BIG fan of all the Batman's vehicles so I don't want this limited to just the 1966 Batmobile. ALL Batmobiles are welcome in this thread, boats, cycles, planes and monster trucks. It just has to have a BAT connection. You can bring on your fantasy custom bat-vehicles too. Zingers, dragsters or even a Big Daddy BAT-Fink if you want.

If it's already built, post some pics and tell us about it. If you're building a customised Bat-pod, cover the build here.

Play nice! This is the most important part. Remember always that what you are looking at is someone elses model being built the way they want it. Anyone who want's help can certainly ask for it if they hit a snag (and we all do occaisionally right?) and we can all try to help them out. Just try to refrain from the negative posts and have some fun.

Hmm........I have an old build up I'd briefly started years ago. I might dig it back out and start slinging some putty for this. My body work skills need some practice and this seems like a good time to do it.

A pic of my idea.

I'm amazed at how well those two styles blend. Yeah, I can definitely see this as a "Real" version of a 1950's-style comic book Batmobile. A great concept, and it clearly shows a great imagination!

(... and I definitely like the coupe roofline better than the bubble, too! B) )

Wow! That's different, Rob. Looks a lot better than the image one gets by just thinking about joining the Black Force and the Predicta.

Looking forward to seeing this finished. Build on ...

Jim, Danno, I have three WIP's that need my attention all before December. I have no plans after these three so I see no problem with giving this a try soon after. FYI, I have the Predicta sitting on a modified Viper chassis, but I fully plan on this being a curbside with no engine or interior detail. Hopefully there won't be any end to this CBP.

Ha ha I dig this! I've got a Batman Forever Batmobile that I've worked on off and on. this could be my motivation to finish her.

Here's her current state. Not too much to tidy up before paint and final assembly. This kit does fit together fairly odd.

Ryan, from a design standpoint I have always loved that Batmobile and did a build up myself. However I hated the neon lighting that was so widely used in both Shumachers Batman films. When I did mine, I used a lot of metallic (aluminum, steel, brass) colors on the chromy bits that are seen through the body and then used a black wash to keep them looking realistic. That combined with the flat black body gives it a gritty, almost Geiger-esque feel. I think my version looks better than the one in the film.

Well... I do have a few ideas about how the Batmobile would have looked if I designed it. Might be able to whip something up. :D
It'll be a bit more creative than this, though!

I built this 60's TV Series Batmobile from the Futura kit and a resin aftermarket kit.

Looks great, Len.

It would be kinda fun to park it alongside one of the new kits for a comparison ... just to see how well that old resin kit did with the conversion.

All great stuff guys.

Since Polar Lights decided to put a Lincoln Premier chassis under the glue kit of the Batmobile, of course I couldn't let that stand. The actual chassis under the Batmobile is an early modified version of the 1956 Lincoln Continental MK2. I made molds of a Franklin mint MK2 and cast it up in resin. Next I cut loose the pertinent parts to add to the Batmobile chassis wich of course needed it's mid-section modified. The Premier and MK2 share the same front and rear forks so I didn't forsee much trouble. I was quite glad of this because I wanted the new chassis to be a drop in so retaining the integrity of the kit chassis was a must.

Once I placed the new parts for a test fit I found that the new ladder framework of the MK2 hung down about three scale inches below the rocker panels. After some bad words and dirty names (the frame rails should be even with the rockers) I thought sure this project was done and ruined. However, after several hours of staring, I realised it was still doable, I just needed to remove the bulk of the floor pan (wich I WAS using for support and mounting of the new frame) and move it up to the proper height. This raised a new problem. If I had removed the center of the floor pan and raised the whole thing intact it would have altered the hieght of the interior components. This wouldn't do. So I removed the entire floor pan except for the attachment points for the seats, package shelf and dash. I removed a bit from the firewall's bottom edge and after a new test fit the frame rails were now at the proper level, even with the rocker panels. I'll need to replace the floor with a very thin sheet plastic where the interior parts attach and then in the unseen portions of the interior add thicker plastic on top for support. Originally the supports for the dash, package shelf and door panels were raised from the surface of the rest of the floor as ridges. When i'm done they will be slightly sunken as shallow grooves.

I am also repacing the kit's Futura steering wheel with a hybrid of the kit wheel (black portion) and the column and spokes of the Revell Futura kit (modified slightly).

Whew! Despite the heat of the day, I made some great progress! It wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be. There's still a ways to go but here's the first ever peek at what resides under the real Batmobile!

I've ordered a snap-kit from my LHS, it should be in today.

I normally don't mess with snap together kits, but for this one I'm making an exception. I can't wait!
