Here's a new discovery I made today. I wanted a gloss black that goes on easy and doesn't need a clearcoat. I found it!

Dang, I just bought an airbrush so I could get that smooth & shiny finish on my deluxe kit.

Well... I suppose I'll use it for other things too.

I wonder how the Batmobile would look in Alclad; ala John T's Thunderbolt... Hmm.

I've been think about doing something like that, only not all the way to a silvery Alclad chrome, but just a hint of silver for a black chrome. Oooooo.

Just saw this today. Not sure if I like it, but there might be an idea or two hidden in there.

This is my 89 Batmobile, I recently rebuilt. It had been in storage for years and needed repairs.

That is probably my favorite Bat-Mobile of all time. It's dark and its sinister looking.

I've been kicking around an idea, and I'd like a little input...

I've been thinking of getting another PL glue kit (well, too late, just did that! B) ), and using a few pieces from the Revell Futura on it to turn it back into a full-detail Futura. I think such a model would be a reallly nice companion piece to the Batmobile- then it would be a matter of deciding whether to paint the Futura in its original ice blue or the 1959 red rendition.

Yes, I know it would be easier to just build the Revell Futura as the Futura, but where's the fun in that?

I have plans to do the same thing. The bumpers will need to be widened and you can't use the futura bubble because it's too small. I know how i'd do it. How would you? :D

Alright... I mentioned earlier I had a mind to build Batman's hypothetical pickup. Well, dug out a long-stalled project this afternoon....

"What am I looking at????" You ask.

The main car body started out as a glue-bomb JoHan '60 Plymouth wagon, with the '61 style 'Atomic Bug' front end from a '61. The '61 is a Promolite 2000 kit, and I messed up the body. I had long wondered how a '61 Plymouth would have looked if they'd kept the '60 fins, and I decided to cut this one down into a pickup, by removing about 2" from the roof- what are now the B-posts were originally the D-posts on the wagon roof. The bed is an AMT '88 C1500 longbed piece, cut out and made to fit the Plymouth.

I've also long thought that a mostly-stock '61 Plymouth (any model) would have made a pretty cool Batmobile, and since this one does now sport the '60 fins, it would be even more fitting!

So far, aside from all the bodywork- I have replaced the Plymouth badge on the grille with a spare Batman logo from the Polar Lights PE fret. I used the '60 wagon chassis, and made up new styrene 'stubs' to mount the Radir wheels and Mickey Thompson tires from the same Batmobile kit. Yes, they'll sport the Bat center caps in due time!

The interior will be pretty much standard-issue Plymouth, but I will add a few accessories from the Batmobile kit and other sources to the interior to jazz it up a bit. As to what will go in the bed? That's still wide open at this point- this being Batman's secondary vehicle, I'm sure it would need to have at least a few items from the regular Batmobile (after all... if he gets a call when out and about in the pickup, it's not like he'll have time to head home and go back out with the Batmobile, right? ;) ) but I am keeping the pickup bed in mind, and intend to leave enough open space back there for Batman to haul something. The Batmower, perhaps...

Roughly the same way you described it. I was thinking of retaining the Batmobile bubble anyway, and figuring out a way to omit the center spine. Only bugger there might be cutting the clear styrene- slow and steady is key when doing that, but 'slow' and 'steady' don't even register in my vocabulary. B)
