Chevy engine red is a very close match to the stripes for either the decals or the snap kit. The Batmobile was severely mistreated during the run of the show. More often than not you'll see it looking "smeary" in the cave, not outside. The reason for this is the famous Bat-cave turntable...which didn't exist. The car would be placed on a platform with a central pivot. The car would then be "turned" by crewmen from the set. ;)

You are correct about the door bats. In the first season the bats were held in place by flush set screws. Second season to facilitate easy replacement they used magnetic sign material for a while and finally went to printed decals.

Honestly...considering the nature of the show, i'm suprised they never tried going "undercover" like that!

I used the pre-painted body on my build up so I only know about the paint used to correct the flaws in the tampo for that one. Pactra Racing Finish #RC77 Flourescent Neon Red.  It can be brushed on carefully and dries quickly. But... doesn't match the decals.

I considered painting the glue kit till I got my hands on the pre-painted body. (very nice!)
The way I was going to do it was to prime with Plasti-kote white. Then paint (airbrush) the RC77 in the area of the stripes.

Using 3M #2080 blue masking tape, tape up the areas for the striping and shoot Tamiya rattle can gloss black. Then clear coat the whole mess after removing the tape. Follow that up with a good wet sand and polish!

:)

Thanks folks.

I've found that a mix of Orange & Light Gull Grey is a spot on match for the decals.

Good deal. I only went by what Round2 told me for the trim. I'm glad someone checked into it. Are those testors paints, model master?

Gunze Sangyo Mr Color acrylic but they can be cross referenced to other hobby colours such as Tamiya.  I'll look the codes up tomorrow & stick them on here.

http://www.modelcars...ght-batpod.html

i almost bought one at my LHS but for it to be worth the 20 dollars they were asking it would have to include a rider (sold seperatly)

would look cool parked outside a biker bar though

OK.  So the paints i will use (just done a test for now on an offcut of decal) are Gunze Sangyo Aqueous Hobby Colour.

H14 Gloss Orange and H51 Gloss Light Gull Grey.

The finish will stand out like a sore thumb against the matt decals but clearcoating should take care of that.

Paint conversion charts here http://www.paint4models.com/ but I can't get the online version to work and the PDF is a paint to use.

I did have a much friendlier version linked but it must have been on the PC at work and they made me redundant last October so...

My local shop just got the 1:25 Moebius Batman figure (Christian Bale) in stock. I've never done a figure before... thinking of taking the plunge.

Eelco, I just pulled the trigger on a set for a total of $11.95 (cost + shipping). Still too much in my opinion for two figures, but p.m. me if you need a link to the dealer. :)

I think he's selling it for just under ten bucks, but I'd have to check again to make sure.

Okay, so it took a couple of sick days to get back to the bench and get some work done on my 1/32 Dual Bat Build...

Bottle of white, bottle of red and a nice paint brush ought to do...

2013-01-23001_zps17dc28ae.jpg

Yes, they'll do fine! (the red says it's 1103 but it is more orange, which is great for me!)

2013-01-23010_zps41689b63.jpg

White done

2013-01-23018_zps5fbef3af.jpg

Red is getting there

2013-01-23021_zpsa7831612.jpg

Should look like the Batmobile!

Hopefully I can make time for the bench and get these done without staying home sick from work! :)

A little more progress. Decals and one coat of Future applied. BMF on the canopies. Hoops installed...need to flip the chutes (just noticed they were upside down) and another coat of Future and I can put the bodied and chassis together.

###### you have a steady hand!

I've done a bit of fill in and touch up on my 1/24 but there is no way i could do the long straight side stripes or the fin tops so well with a brush.
