This is my rat rod that i am starting work on, i am building a custom frame for it out of strip styrene, chopping the top and putting it low on the ground. It has a dodge 440 engine i got from a charger kit. I put big drag tires on the back and used the kits front tires. I would like to give a big thanks to 59 Chevy Impala for giving me a cab for free after my first attempt at chopping the kits cab failed. This is the first time ive ever done this much of a change to a kit but rat rods and hot rods are my style so thats why i am building one.

Looking cool so far, and with the bed still the stock length, might still be useful as a pickup for chasing parts.

Kool build Cole. I'm really glad that you could use the cab. It was one left over from one that I customized awhile back. I combined the 50 Ford chopped top (resin) cab with a modern F-150 Ford truck and painted it a Gold color. Mine is a custom and I'm looking forward to see how yours comes out. Great start so far my friend. Dan

Hi Cole, You are off to a good start on this one :) I struggle with the chopping part too!! I can never get the windshield pillars to look right B)

That motor will look good in your truck, look foward to more.

Had a huge pause in this build but in the last couple of days ive got tons done, chop almost done, frame completely done, and close to rolling chassis stage (even though it doesn't really roll) I also added a rat rod touch to the motor instead of that boring stock air filter :P

the top is almost done with body work i don't really care if its not completely smooth i mean its a rat rod, ive seen these cabs chopped in 1:1 before with the pieces added not covered up at all

Thanks Dan I seen on your photobucket the build where you combined the chopped cab with an f-150 bed and front and its looks great nice job.

Thanks Virgil means a lot coming from you, I'm going to be making the cab rusty and crusty. Long Live Rust!

Thanks Cole. That was a piece of work getting those two trucks to come together. This past weekend I got a 2nd place in my first ever contest other than our club contests, at Zanesville Ohio. I installed the Ford letters on the front panel just below the hood since the pictures that I posted in Photobucket. I'm looking forward to your build of this one. Dan

Done some more on the rat. Spring perch for front axle is built, firewall and floorboard cut out for transmission, and I am ready to have a rolling chassis.
still needs some work
