Cranky, are you referring to the smell of Broken Pinto timing belts and oil leaking from those aluminum Chevrolet Vega engines ?

Wow, lets not return to those repair bills............

Cool to see a return of the van kits and Gremlin. I like '70s kit subjects way more than the '50s (though I was too young to enjoy all that decade had to offer--born in '70).

Glad to see the vans coming back around! It's gonna be a tough year ... on the budget! My wallet is trying to run off, too.

I hope they get around to the mpc ford vans too. I think the mpc ford van is superior to the amt kit. and i hope they include the off road wheels that came in those kits as well. maybe we will see the 4x4 vans if this first round goes well.

Were the MPC Fords 1/20? If thats the case, those would be perfect for bodies to put on Losi's Micro Crawler/Scaler!

That would be correct, Sir. And it's about time they re-release those too!

MPC did 1/20th scale Ford vans in the early '70s. The ones I was referring to were 1/25th from around '79-80 or so...

That Ford "Bull- nose " was an exact copy of a van I once owned . It was a LWB E- 300. Yep, they were the toughest and easiest vans Ford ever built to work on . I just wish they had invested some time into the lousy heaters they had . That wasn't resolved until 1976 when the Super Snoot Ford vans appeared . Ed Shaver

For as many of those things that sold back in the day, where are they now. i can't remember the last time I saw a custom 70's van out and about, not even the crappy dealer converts

They all ended up in Europe  You would be surprised how many 70s American vans you can still see over here.
But it doesn't matter. We now get the kits again and that's a good thing.

I've been trying to get myself back to finishing my daughter's '85 GMC van so maybe this is all that I need to get the juices flowing again. :)

Any further news on the Ford Vantom Van issue? As in "when"? All I keep thinkin' about is building a replica of my van from way back when.

Wish they would tool an early 70's short-nosed Ford van. I've got a project that could use one, and the 1/20 scale wont do.

To add more to the mystery, there is no mention of the van on the Round2 website, so who is behind the release of this kit?

Could it be a Model King release? Stevens International?

Anybody here have a contact at Round2 to verify if this kit is coming out or not? I don't want to assume Tower Hobbies is THE authority on kits being released, even Revell/Monogram kits!

I will e-mail Round2 and see if there's any news.

An e-mail reply from Round2 states it's scheduled for an August release.
