An e-mail reply from Round2 states it's scheduled for an August release.

Any reason given why it isn't mentioned on their website? You would think if a kit is a couple of months away from being available that you would want to sell a few and let people know !

No idea, Mike. I agree that Round2 could do a better job of letting people know which kits are coming out via their website, but you can always e-mail them and ask: info@round2models.com

Just wondering if they even look at the mold before they give us a release date. They seem to be pushed back often.

They have to look at it before sending the tooling to the molder, but what may look good in the storage warehouse may look very different once the molds are set up for production. Sometimes after they receive test shots back from the molder, they need to make adjustments and/or corrections. Round2 has been very willing to repair tooling with issues (see their blog archives), and that's a good thing, even if it means waiting a few more months for a reissue to arrive.

I would have thought that they would test shots before a release date is handed out that's all. This way they could give us a better idea of when the kit might be out ( not that I need anymore kits).

See below for an updated "street" date.

I did find something interesting...

Original kit:

Soon-to-be-reissued kit:

Interesting that they are now calling it 'Phantom' instead of 'Vantom'.

Yes, I thought so too, but didn't get an answer to that question from Round2. It's entirely possible it was an error when the "new" box art was released. I guess we'll find out around August.

Thanks for doing the research, Casey. Looking forward to buying two to build my van.
Anyone know where to slice 'n dice to make a LWB E-150?

Easy, just make the cut right in front of the rear wheels, and then add the section there.

Through "six-degrees-of-separation" I found the Tower Hobbies site . It was there where I found that the old AMT Vantom E-150 (c.a.1975 Ford Van) is scheduled for an August 2012 release ; has anyone seen this kit in-person any-where ?

Can any-one provide a link or some photos of the contents of these kits ?

I picked up the Ford Phantom van at Hobby Depot in Tempe this afternoon...neat kit--lots of parts, builds stock or custom, choice of stock wheelcovers (which look like they would good on my Missing Link '78 LTD) or wagon-spoke mags (unplated), optional flared fenders, 3 types of clear or tinted bubble window options, side pipes. Opening hood. I'm familiar w/ the AMT '70s Chevy vans but had never had one of the Ford ones.
