This is still early in the mock-up phase. Still a lot of "trim, sand, prime, repeat" to go but you can get a good idea of what we've got going on here. Let me know what you think.

Greg, those intake manifolds are pure genius! Great work on that, now I need to find some bumpers like that for myself. I want to do the same thing on my '50 Chevy, since the blower ain't looking too hot right now! Thanks for the inspiration!

It'll be in white with red interior just like original. It's a resto-mod.

Any thoughts on improving the headlight mesh? That's always been the weakest link in the builds I've seen.

Not necessarily. I don't know if there are any aftermarket solutions out there, but almost every build I see shows mesh that is too thick and plasticky, with surrounds that stick out too much and don't fit well against the body parts. I'd just like to see someone nail this most difficult part of the kit and provide hope that it can be conquered.

Greg, I'm really lov'n what youre doing with this build. Aomething similar crossed my mind last weekend when I seen my AMT kit while looking for something else.

MCG makes a PE set for the [iirc] AMT 'vette kits and it has the headlight acreens. Not shure if it'll work with the Monogram kit but it might be worth looking into.

This is for the 1/24 Monogram kit. Looks like the headlight screens will take a little molding and bending, which makes me think you could accomplish the same thing using mesh and doing some scratchbuilding of the surrounds.

I'm kinda thinking the same thing. Without seeing pics of those in place, it's hard to know if they'd even look good. I think finding some mesh of some sort would look better IMO.

Another way to go is to do lots of filing and sanding with the existing parts. This is a problem that's shared with almost every Jaguar E-Type kit, including the 1/8 version. As for the surrounds, here's how Alex Kustov dealt with them on the Ferrari 275 GTB. It starts out rough at first, then takes some finessing.

This is my AMT Snapkit. I also got stalled at the headlight screens. I've got the Monogram and AMT bezels and lenses. I think either would be OK, perhaps with a black wash to bring out the details.
