Thanks for the tip Bob. Here's today's efforts, firstly fit the body and ensure the new muffler is out of the way.....

Fit the fuel tank and rear 'seats' (they don't look too comfortable)......

I was just wondering today if you had made any progress . It looks great ! You did a nice job . Also , that's a nice collection you have there .

With all the excitement about this kit , I'm surprised there aren't more being posted here ! I have two more , but they are down on the list of what I have planned .
Keep building and posting your models .
BOB.

Cheers Bob, yes I'm ordering another today, possibly for a turbo Corvair motor and lowered stance! I don't know yet, I'm just about to go through my picture files to see any real ones I'd like to copy. But as VW's (aircooled) go I've got a camper and pickup on the shelf and a Karmann Ghia with a few 911 Porsche's and a 356 on back-order.

There are a whole lot excellent builds here. I'm impressed by the variety of interpretations arising from such a simple kit.

Now it's time to add mine to the mix.

Minor detail added...

I replaced the plastic nerf bars with chrome paperclip wire and reworked the muffler.

The decals are from the Revell VW Bus kit.
Manx109m.jpg

I replaced that horrible rear seat with some "plywood". I've actually seen this done in a couple of 1:1's.

Manx110m.jpg

Dash detail with one of those wooden steering wheels so popular in the 60's &70's.
Manx112m.jpg

I still need to add the license plate and figure out some way to clear coat the decals (advise?), but essentially, it's done.

Thanks for looking,
David G.

The yellow paint is cool and the Flower power decals are perfect for this kit ! I like your detailing and the contrasting colors .
You can clear a finished model by using Pledge Floor Care with Future Shine . Use a small foam brush ( 1 " ) and brush it lightly on the model . It is very thin and as it dries it evens out for a beautiful shine ! I've done this on two older builds and it really turns out nice . Give it a try .
BOB.

It's a pity we don't have this Future/Pledge floor shine in the UK, we could make ours look better too!

Bob- thanks for the kind comments and the advise on the Future; I do have some, I just wasn't sure of the best application method.

Jim- Thanks! It's SHINY too... and it'll be even more so once I put the future to it!

It may take me a while, but there'll be more- and hopefully better pics in the Future.

Here's a little 'sneak peek' of the Manx body I painted for George53.....I'm looking forward to seeing what he does with it now

Posted Image

The headlights are the smaller ones from any of the Revell '32 Ford street rod kits; they're much nicer than the AMT kit-supplied ones, and they scale out to a nice 7" light....just like the Deitz/Cibie units on my real Manx

What kind of paint ?

It's a brush-on acrylic from Michaels or A.C. Moore, and I figured out a pretty neat system for application:

Norm (as in Norm Veber, Replicans and Miniatures) has just finished a new resin package with hop-up and detail parts for the Manx engine. It's really well done. Recommend you contact him for further details - his ad is usually in the first few pages of the mag (each issue).... btw.he doesn't have a web site....I would imagine Gregg will get a sample soon and can show you the full details.
