Other than the race car kits, it's too bad a '73-74 Chevelle was never kitted....it would be fun to make a model replica of the car in 'Drive'..

Heres the kit i used the chassis.interior and windsheild is from the 77 monte carlo the hood still opens so i still have the
option to put an engine in

I also did this with a 73 monte carlo i was not to happy with the results though

Unless I'm badly mistaken (which is always a distinct possibility with me) there was a 73 kitted. I've got an AMT #3688 that's a 73, I believe. Can go put my hands on it if I need to. I'd be willing to send to a reputable and talented caster I don't know much about casting, but if the master I send has to be kept, I'd like a couple of castings in return. LMK.

MPC made '73 and '74 Chevelle NASCAR stock cars, the '74 version was reissued as a Model King kit a few years ago...don't think there was ever a (street) stock version kitted, at least I've never heard of one or seen one in the last 34 years in the hobby...

Yeah, that's what I thought, there are only those NASCAR versions... Actually didn't know that there is '73 Chevelle too, but that's much different than '74... It would be great to have resin kit or body from both, but especially I'd like to have that '74 Chevelle.

Or then I do that conversion myself.

I'd have to throw my hat in the ring on this one. My first car was a 73 Chevelle and I just loved it. I guess it is kinda like your first girl you will remember her for the rest for a lifetime. I would really like to build a replica of her.

Great to see that there are some other people interested about this year Chevelle too, usually when I see some listings on Chevelles, they end after year '72. Anyway, I've been thinking about making the conversion.

On the last one those rear wheel openings on the body look pretty good. But it's $100 on Nascarmodelkits.com

Maybe the best way would be buying Model King kit, and then just making those wheel openings smaller, and some other modifications what are necessary.

I actually built that Lenny Pond issue MANY Years ago.
Sadly, it has a badly warped body. I did my best to straighten it out, but,
I think it is still noticeable.
AMT had already dropped it from the line up and sent me a 64 Impala kit instead
of a replacement body.

You forgot the Bobby Allison #12 kit . I have a built of that too, and 2 of the Monte Carlo.

Oh, there was a kit of Bobby Allison's car too? Didn't know that thing, but needs to Google it. Can you remember anything about the lights (front and rear) and the grille? Especially the quality is interesting.

Love to have a stock body 1976 Laguna, I could replicate the (ignored for too long) one I have in my garage.

As all are nascar, all have the Plates that were bolted/welded over the headlight openings!!

Ok, thanks for the information. That means some more conversion work to do, but I'm sure, that Model King kit can be converted to factory stock '74 Chevelle-Malibu.

The headlight bar from the "Coming" IMC/Jo-Han 74 Olds Cutlass will work on the 73/74 conversion.
I am not sure about anything with tail liaghts that are close.

The 'Other' mag did have a concversion article many years ago. The builder
modified one of these nascar kits into a stock Laguna.
I think he carved the tail lights into the rear panel and detail painted them

Yes, those Olds Cutlass headlights are pretty close, and they would work fine. Do you mean Scale Auto Magazine? Tail-lights are harder to do, it would be great to see that article....
