2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
Posted 02 June 2014 - 12:37 AM
My latest project "Spiky" was inspired by pwtomczak's "Stick Around" zombie killer car. Saw it when visiting AmericanScaleModel.freeforums.org. Maybe it's not very practical having spikes stuffed with rotting zombie flesh but i think those spikes look good. AK fluids were used for weathering again.

It's been quiet in here. Almost, too quiet.
I finally got around to fixing up my damaged '59 Cadillac. Will post some before and after pics when its all together.
Still think this needs an official end date, and start a new one. Fury Road is coming out next year, hopefully that will re-ignite you guys enthusiasm/progress.

Despite my best efforts to start on a new project, I already started another PA car from junk yard bits. I cut the front off of a Revell 720 Datsun Pick up and mated it to a AMT 90 Chevy frame. Plan to put a Jeep grille on it.

Narrowed the Chevy frame/base and rebuilt the firewall and transmission tunnel. Work so far:

You do know you are meant to put the jeep grill on the front of a Holden Statesman, don't you?
Yes... . Where do you think I got the idea.
This whole vehicle is literally being built from the junkpile, though.

I fixed up the Cadillac with new tires, and some junk in the backseat to make it more "lived in". I used the crappy microfigures from some old MPC Star Wars sets for dolls.

O MY, some wonderful projects completed recently and in the works. Great job and thank you for sharing them. Amazing.

Just started on this one. Needless to say, the kit wheels were way too small!
The wheel on the left scales out to a little more than 46" versus the kit tire on the right. Hopefully that'll be high enough to keep them from climbing in!
Surprisingly enough, the kit axles fit the hubs.
Thanks for looking!

Nice Bronco. is that an old Monogram mold? The details and pushbar look a lot like the F bodied Monster Truck, Krusher.
DUH! Just answered my own question finding the picture above...

I don't know the history of the kit, it's just been in my stash for about 10 years. I was disappointed with how small the kits tires were so I took a stroll around the car section at Wal-Mart and found the Tonka metal body trucks. I thought the tire size would be great for this build.
Here's a link to them: http://www.funrise.c...ting.aspx?id=68
I got a little surgery started. Opened the wheel wells, the fuel filler door, and the model in exhaust (sorry about the pics, I couldn't find my tripod).
Needless to say, I have some clean-up and reconstruction (and some more cutting) to do.

Oh my and the TZH caravan keeps growing and growing. Impressive builds.
