You may remember these kits (and the others in the 1/32 scale series) as Monogram kits or from Revell's Circuit series, but these have been repackaged in a bag and relabeled as Revell SNAP RODS, like so:

Posted Image

While the kit parts are made from the same molds and have no additional parts compared to previous issues, there are some new features in the SNAP RODS series, most notably some pre-painted parts and body details such as the window trim, emblems, and bumpers. I suspect this was done to add a more finished look to the completed model parts right out of the box, as these models are perfect for a "Make & Take" type event. No paint nor glue is required to assemble and finish these models, so you get a reasonably detailed model after fifteen minutes of snap together work.

I will post pics of each kit and let the pictures do the talking, as they are simplified kits with a low parts count, but they do have some nice detailing for 1/32 scale snap kits. Let's start with the '69 Camaro Z/28:

The painted trim, emblems, bumpers, etc. aren't perfect, but they are good enough to be convincing for a first time builder, and certainly much better looking than a single-color finished model. The added details and pre-painted parts may be just enough of an extra (compared to the other molded-in-one-color-with-no-added-detail issues of these kits) to convince a budding model builder to build another model and try to add some detail her/himself on their next model.

They're also a nice diversion from a high-detail or intensive custom project, so if you find yourself needing a break and want to complete a model in less than an hour, I suggest you give one of these kits a try.

out of the bag they look pretty presentable; just a LITTLE added detail painting and cleanup and they're darn nice. aren't there a bunch more ex-Monogram 1/32 car/truck kits of this kind? RevOGram is just missing a great opportunity here....

Neat..I remember building these as a kid about 30 years ago..

There are a bunch of the other old Monogram 1/32nds I'd like to see again...remember the '69 Charger, '69 Nova,
'65 GTO, '65 Barracuda, '65 Mustang? I never had those except for the GTO...

Yep, there are quite a few Monogram 1/32 snap kits, all of them very similar. Here are some pics I've collected:

Between the way Great Planes packs it's boxes being sent to my store and the way UPS treats them between Champain and up here, I don't want to think of that Ron O_O

I think side pipes were a mandatory design feature of the designed-in-the-'80s kits of this series, in order to hide the body-to-chassis mounts. I don't know many people who added sidepipes to their 1:1 Mustang notchbacks. :D

I have several of these too
I think the 65 GTO, Mustang & Cuda were originally tooled by Aurora
I do like the pre-decorated issues now out, but yes, I too would like to see the
69 Charger, Nova, EXP, etc return. Those are draw HIGH $$ on evilpay now!!
Too bad the didn't have the body/chassis mounts like on the 70 Mach-1 on the 68 GTO, 69 Camaro, etc
I am converting the Notchback 79 Mustang & Camaro to a CHP Cruiser.
I Just need to find 1/32 scale CHP decals!!
I have the 68 GTO in both Red & Lime green. That one is from the Halloween series.
One of my 69 Camaro's is becoming a Convertible (Indy Pace Car)
I added Stock exhaust to all those I removed the side-pipes from.
I had one of the Datsun/Toyota pickups a long time ago but traded it
Wish I still had all the parts for the Police version of the Dodge van & Ambulance version of the Chevy!!

like i said, RevOGram is missing out on an opportunity here.... one of the problems with releasing THREE snap kits with new packaging is that ,well, if a kid builds THREE, he's built all they have at that level, and maybe, just MAYBE, he's happy with snaps so far and not willing (or his/her parents aren't willing) to dish out twice as much or more to get into glue kits.

those are some pretty sturdy little models, BTW; my son had one of the '55's since about 1992 or 93. it's still here... somewhere; i seen it not long ago....

Casey, like i said if you need more of these let me know iam pretty sure the guy still has more. I have a built charger that you show, also i have the yellow datsun you have but mine came orange and i built it many many years ago. And also i think he had some of the bag kits but there in a box and if i remember right they had like zombie decals or something like that. so if your interested i can check for you.

Some of those were issued in seasonal sets
I have all 6 of the Halloween series, as well as some of the Winter ones.
The 70 Mach-1 & 69 Camaro were in both series
I thin all 6 were the same in both sets, just different clear based stickers & molded color
Halloween Mustang is Dark blue, Winter is White
The other 4 in the Halloween series were the 55 Chevy, 78 Vette, 68 GTO, &
ZZ Top Ford Coupe. that one was Pink!!

Here's a pic of the 'Halloween' set;

Notice the marked W-M price.
I paid MUCH less than that!
Most I only paid 75 CENTS for!!About 80% discount!!!

WOW, looks like there are many of these. I have one Monogram '55 Chevy Snapkit in 1/32 scale, and it was really great kit. Especially that Chevy Malibu Police car and Mustang Coupé are looking very interesting.
